  1. Hey Colin, Heard you got on at Blue........SSSWWWeeeet!
  2. Get on the phone to Toyoda, give them serial number of machine and get a programming and Ops. Manual. You might also find out from them who did the original install and find out how it was set up. There are so many ways to set these up and many parameter settings to chose from, depending on what was ordered and to a certain extent the whim of the installer. The chances of getting this going doing a service call through the forum is unlikely. There is just too much unknown info.
  3. You will need to be a little more precise : What kind of machine? What kind of pallet changer? Whatever system you have there should be built in Macros. Have you tried the Operation and Programming manuals?
  4. Mastercam isn't really a full blown CAD package. There might be a way to do this in MC but I think you would be better off in something like Solidworks which has more powerful CAD tools.
  5. Good one Matt, however given the number of times I have hit the door override switch I can't see how I didn't do this to myself at least once.......
  6. Somehow, reminds me of the old chestnut: I made my money the old fashioned way.....I inherited......
  7. You might want to look at the taper specs, they are grind tolerance tight.
  8. Hey David Always like to read this stuff but link is to a web page in French not a .pdf....
  9. This is definitely a post issue, so you might have better luck in the Post forum.
  10. I don't use the machine sim at the moment. Only 3 axis 4 axis index verticals in our shop. I've been programming them and running them for so long machine sim is unnecessary. You should really go through your reseller....they might also be able to give you advice on the best machine to start with or even if it is possible. I know there are people on the forum who use it so someone might have a better idea of where to start. you might get lucky. I fear the age of the machine will defeat you, machine sim is fairly new for Mastercam and that machine must be 30+ years old.
  11. That's a pretty unusual (and old) configuration. I would be vey surprised if there is a ready built machine. I wonder if you could modify a Robodrill machine (if they do one). It too has the tools grouped around the spindle (although in a different configuration).
  12. Hey Frank, Yeah we ran these in Superduplex at a shop I was at and they worked well. We have also had good luck with Helical and Harvey (small stuff) where I am now. We aren't doing "medical grade" finish but we try and bypass the deburr dept. whenever possible. It's just not as free cutting as 15-5 and definitely harder on the tools.
  13. I think that many flutes is going to cause more problems than it solves, especially if you are working an "inside profile). Although you might think you are very rigid, a horizontal machine is always naturally unstable so its not going to be like it is bolted to the table of a 3 axis Mori or Matsura. You might not get a decent chip due to tool pressure. We generally go with 4 or 5 flutes for stainless, and although it is mostly 15-5 (get a material sub if you can 17-4 is just old out of date formulation of 15-5) we do some 17-4 and just go a bit easier, its not as free cutting as 15-5. I think you could start at 2500 rpm and 25 ipm. Be prepared to drop the spindle to get rid of chatter. I would also try a more normal helix, 60 degrees is again increasing your tool pressure which is going to make taking a chip more difficult.
  14. I believe it is a post issue. Many of the canned cycles are incomplete in the post(s) and like the POCO stuff needs to be "dialed in" for a specific machine (and its specific parameter settings) or scenario. Your reseller should be able to help. Alternately you could get the MP post processer language documentation (again from your reseller) and start learning. The canned cycles are pretty discreet areas in the post. I am not sure but I think they should be relatively easy to edit.
  15. PH Horn is a good place to start. Lots of choice good quality. Worked at a place where we did bottle bores 6 - 9 inches inside the part......in Superdduplex. Took a while but we held pretty tight tolerances.
  16. You seem to be expecting Mastercam to respond to all "windows" commands and functions. It won't. Have you read Colin Gilchrist's Pro Tip Creating Control Definition Defaults on the Industrial Forum? If not I think you will find it illuminating. Although I am still running X9 for production I have started converting to 2019 and have had no problems. To be sure it could be a server problem, I have seen this. But normally it affects stability (more frequent crashes) rather than the above error sequence that you describe.
  17. Have you checked the version of the post you are running? Just because it says 2019 doesn't mean its going to pass the handshake phase of the posting process. I believe 2019 is V21. Look at the first line at the top of the Post (Post Version) the first number group is the version.
  18. What concerns us up here in Boeing country (and is concerning Boeing) is that in several places in the NDA agreements (and I am sure in ITAR and others as well) it states quite clearly that you must be in full control of your data (actually Boeing's data) at ALL times. If the software company has the ability to "switch" you off (for whatever reason) then you are hardly in full control of the data. Note Boeing is not necessarily worried about data being transferred without authorization but an interruption in there JIT supply chain.
  19. I haven't heard anything about MC adopting this model. Mostly it's companies without the market penetration that MC has , so they need additional revenue streams. Word round the campfire in the PNW is that Boeing Compliance is looking at subscription service as a violation of your NDA with Boeing which is pretty clear about controlling their data. Which if your CAM company pulls the plug is now at best held hostage.
  20. Oh well, I take it you don't have a maintenance package with your reseller? If you did I would expect them to help you out with this, especially as you have already upgraded to 2018/19. Don't forget any of your HASPS will read work for all previous versions too. So you just need the Installation .EXE file for X9 to get going. The other alternative might be to just upgrade the problem files to 2019 (I bypassed 2017 and 2018 for the same reasons as above). The GUI is somewhat different but they have made further improvements to the HS toolpaths.
  21. Without wishing to sound negative, I would recommend upgrading to X9 to start. The High speed toolpaths have always been glitchy / difficult and this was nowhere more evident than in X7 and X8. I never even downloaded them, went straight from X6 to X9, along with many others. I don't generally have a problem with reading parameters in from tools in my tool libraries as long as it is the initial set up. Where I still run into problems is editing a pre existing toolpath and being sure it "buys" the new parameters. The Apply button helps here before you Green Check out. I have even used the return to defaults and then re entering the edit, then Apply and this will sometimes force the new parameters.
  22. Interesting, when I first logged on our security system wouldn't allow it so our reseller gave us a special code that hooked us up straight through the field on the website. I guess all resellers aren't created equal......
  23. Re post in the Post Processer Forum. We will need to know what your "base post" is. If it is MPMASTER then there are switches at the top of the post to give you what you want. If its an MC Generic it might take some work.
  24. I think that as you seem to be interested, engaged and experienced you will make rapid progress . Read the Intro., the MP processing and Quick Reference and FAQ first. These will give you an eye opening overview of what happens when you hit that button that launches the Post Processer..... Good luck!!
