  1. I keep thinking about making one for our machines. My idea is to a .375 hole and a 1/2 -13 threaded hole every inch, Alternating ..and then drill two .375 holes in my kurt vises in te same spot on each vise. Then i can switch from plate work to vise work easily, we do alot of streched formed extrusions. Vises and kness are spread out all over the tables.
  2. Anyone know if,when and where it will be ? The only ones I see are back east...
  3. Theres a button called direction on one of the parameters page. Check that and open it up.in there you can change your retracts.
  4. i have no idea. We dont do any big runs ,just a few pcs every month. Lean manufacturing...as i guy on the shop floor i hate it, sucks having to setup a job and tear it down and then setup again 2 weeks later. Nothing is repeatable.just slap a vise where it fits and indicate fixtures flat on machine tables that arnt flat. One of our 80 inch tables is out 50 thou from one end to the other.
  5. Hey ron have you done any of this high feed rate on a fadal vmc. Thats all our company has. Fastest ive ran an opti rough toolpath was 120 ipm and it looks like the machine is going to self destruct anytime...plus the boss freaked out when i was roughing aluminum at 80 ipm. With a 200 ipm back feed rate. Said i was destrying his machines
  6. Ok ill call them in the morning. I usually deal with Dennis over there
  7. Mastercam Tips & Tricks plus X8 Preview Webinar: At around 29 minutes they show how to do what im after. Im pretty close but have problems lining up my op 2 part with the op 1 stock model. By the time i get to op 2 im so confused with all the differnt views and new wcs. Thus is where i feel its makes my simple programming so complicated. I know once i understand it better it shouldn't be so complicated
  8. I understand how to use it.im not giving up on it ,it just seems to complicate things more than its worth for the type of work i do. I get how nice it is for multiaxis work. All i do is 3 axis vertical milling. Almost everything is 2 maybe 3 operations ,so just fliping the part 180 is super simple.. i wouldlove to be able to feel comfortable using it,
  9. I Was afraid of that. Are there any videos on this subject. Ive tried time and time again trying to wcs in my programming but it just complicates eveything for me.
  10. this is basically how I was taught to program on a 3 axis vertical mill. program the top side for op 1 and and then just copy the part to another level and flip 180 then program the second side. im trying to start using stock models more. how do I use the stock model from op 1 and flip it with my part for op 2 . PART1.MCX-7
  11. Tried downloading all day. I keep getting an error after about an hour into downloading that "download has been interrupted "
  12. Don't think our fadal. Can handle that lol.
  13. Ok my helix bore pitch was set way too high. Brought it down to. 01 and it was golden. Drilled three .5 hole with one drill at 130 rpm 1 imp .03 peck. 2 inches deep
  14. Ok I'll try that. As for roughing I'm using pct curve cut.75 cobalt rougher. Running 325 rpm at 5 imp. It seems to be running pretty nice now. .375 step down. .25 step over using dynamic core. Then using area for the pocket.but the helix entry is killing these cutters. What angle is easy on the em?
  15. Wow! My first attempt at inco today. .. what's the trick to drill a .5 dia hole 4 inches deep? All I can use are cobalt drills. I'm running 200 rpm 2 imp .05 peck flood coolant. I can get about 2 inches deep, just can't get the heat out,and it work hardens. .
  16. I always wondered if I was the only who thought about what pocket path would be faster mowing the lawn .
  17. I had this problem a long time ago. I think I ended up renaming the nci. Right click in the ops manger and edit toolpath name? Can't remember off the top of my head
  18. I'm not involved in this part of the business but Can't you buy the thickness you want then have it heat treated to 351 yourself? I know we have done this several times before
  19. Ya there's always a work around. But I would like to have 100% confidence that the tool will never violate a cont. Boundary.
  20. If I understand you correctly what your looking for is the min toolath radius box. It's under th step down box
  21. I disagree. For me I would perfer that a cantainment boundary does just that. Contain the tool no matter what.
  22. If you change to square bounding box and have it place a center point, then draw a circle by selecting the center point ??? But like rickster said, that's how bounding box circle works.. I see what your after tho.
