  1. Strange, I can open SW2009 files in Mastercam X3
  2. no more problems than X2 and SW2008 had
  3. Tony35 and pip the problem with those are that I end up with a lot of small steps in my NC output, that results in a chubby finish on the WEDM. Simtech, I do not follow It just seems to me that you should be able to have the same function inside Mastercam to do to a Mastercam solid, as you do when importing a foreign solid.
  4. Could also open it in Version 8, save as MC8 then open into X2 or X3
  5. Here is my problem. Customer sends me a Mastercam Solid file of a gear he need WEDM, I want to convert the gear to lines and arcs. If I use "Create curve on all edges" I get a bunch of splines, that I then can convert to lines and arcs by using "edit=>trim/break=>break many pcs". Now this whole procedure will work, but I can save myself a lot of hassle by saving the Mastercam file as a X_T or STEP file, and then have "edge curve" checked when I load that file into Mastercam, and I will get lines and arcs. I am not sure what tolerances "edge curve" is using, I assume "system" tolerances. I guess my issue is that this seems kinda a weird way to end up with a result, for me to convert a Mastercam solid I need to go outside and bring it back in. Is there another way to do this? or should this be some kinda enhancement request? Thank you in advance
  6. Ted, I sat it up back in Mastercam 8 and it actually ended up working pretty good for my needs, however I have schedule myself to be looking into this within the next week, because I want to re-write a post for MastercamX3...........UNLESS, Ron need beta testers, huh? huh?, "vink, vink" you know what I mean, my old pal Ron
  7. I am with chris, I would defiantly call Okuma and say "hey you forgot to install something something"
  8. custom drill cycles are great for this, Set up a post processor to post out the Renishaw macros, just a general answer
  9. Love Guhring drills, how much psi? 1000? then just have at it
  10. Kyle, I know nothing about Okumas so I am not going to be any help, but if you get stuck I would not shy away from using Renishaws macros, they can do a lot of stuff and I have always got tremendous support from them. Good luck
  11. I think you only got those 2 options, either pick each one individually (Sounds like a good job for a apprentice) or send them all in one file, "Setting 41" will make a space in the between each program if you are using the last option. An idea is to sign a program range for each operator. Joe has 7500 to 7599, Frank has 7600 to 7699 that way you can easier go through the control and say "hey Joe, what do you want to do with your programs" or Frank do not work here more, gone. HTH
  12. My suggestion would be to set up some testing parameters that simulate what your company is planing on using the machine for such as surface finish, material use etc., then let the different companies have add it, let them make some test burns (watch out they like to sell on things u might not need, such as a mirror finish). I have personally always like Charmilles for sinker brand, somewhat like Mercedes category, well at least use to be. I have never worked on Mitsubish1 sinkers but have heard good about them.
  13. Unless your post have some kind of travel limits set up in it, there should be nothing. Same Spindle RPM? Programmable coolant, Table/spindle probe, the machines are identical when it comes to options?
  14. PFABC, What road is that? What other CAM package are you talking about? What exactly should they have made better? What are they screwing around with, that should have worked before the X release, Mastercam inside Solidworks? you wanted that in version 9?
  15. Tony, The only problem is that doing "it" the way CNC set it up you can not pick bottom of part on the Job Setup screen, not saying there isn't a way around it. I agree, I do not know how many are using this setup sheet. Personally I'm using it because I just needed a quick dirty setup sheet for a operator because of a fixture modification. If I was doing a new job I would go with a full blown "all info" setup sheet, including pictures.
  16. Horst, What Condacam is trying to do is somewhat what Mastercam is doing with FBM, we are years from in reality to just plug the solid model into a computer, and have the finished part coming out in the other end. Its like letting Google maps and a satellite guide your car, we can not trust it yet, and computers ain't got much other than 0's and 1's in them, intelligence is needed. 1st of you need to get your school to get up to the real world, Solidworks 2009 and Mastercam X3 is both out and a university should not be teaching old technology. The best way to help you would be if you uploaded your file on the FTP, that would make it easier to see what you are trying to do. You where talking about engraving something, but now you want to drill? or when you are saying holes are you talking pockets? When talking tools are these standard tools or custom engraving tools, in Mastercam you can have a tool library so you just add your tools on the fly. A lot of questions but as you might understand this is why computers isn't running the show yet.
  17. Feeling pretty stupid since I just realized that you can move your origin on you stock setup page by clicking on the picture, going back to at least version 8. Still don't do bottom, but stk0 "AT CENTER, Z AT TOP" stk1 "UPPER LEFT CORNER, Z AT TOP" stk2 "UPPER RIGHT CORNER, Z AT TOP" stk3 "LOWER RIGHT CORNER, Z AT TOP" stk4 "LOWER LEFT CORNER, Z AT TOP" stk5 "UPPER LEFT CORNER, Z AT BOTTOM" stk6 "UPPER RIGHT CORNER, Z AT BOTTOM" stk7 "LOWER RIGHT CORNER, Z AT BOTTOM" stk8 "LOWER LEFT CORNER, Z AT BOTTOM" Does work, I thought "AT CENTER, Z AT TOP" was the only one that worked
  18. Hi Tony, My reseller supposedly contacted CNC about this, something fishy going on with this feature. I will post back here when I hear something.
  19. Can someone help me with how I set this up in the .SET file so when Z in "Stock Origin" is positive the setup sheet will show (At Center, Z at Bottom) Thank you Lars
  20. wow it most be late in the day, typing takes way to long..................I am picking up the ball and going home
  21. You could touch all your tools of a known block on your table (2"gage block) then use a indicator and measure from gage block to setup 1 and plug that in Z level on G54, then measure setup 2 and plug that number in Z level on G55. You could touch all your tool on Setup 1 and measure from Setup 1 to Setup 2. The machine need to know a given point for each tool, you ain't getting away with anything less.
  22. Horst, Are you using Condacam now? On a quick Google search I only found a German site, and I am a little rusty in that language. How do you setup your available tools?
  23. quote: And of course none of us know anything about computers [Wink] Something is rotten in Denmark quote: Should use the proper code here John!!!!
