  3. try using the wireframe and create a swept surface, option 4 (using two along curves to control an across curve) and then the surface finish flowline toolpath.
  4. try using surface finish flowline seemed to work fine
  5. tim why did you leave christopher? i've always heard it's great company to work for. ok if you don't want to say. goodluck in your new job
  6. my suggestion is when working with a 4 or 5 axis milling, have the MC consolidate the A axis moves. whenever i mill a surface diameter whether using axis sub, or rolldie or the advanced 5 axis, the code always has several A moves that can be added together to have one move then the next XA move then A then XA and so on..
  7. you can also purchase this neat little gadget. linky
  8. Midwest you messed up, thats only a 6 axis post. count them.
  9. thanks i missed the other thread.
  10. i've graded to x2 mr2 sp1 and i turned off the autosave feature. in the past i was still able to hit "alt a" and it would save my file now it doesn't unless i have autosave active. Anyone else having this issue?
  11. gcode set your compensation type to control not computer and your lead in/ lead out will be correct. you may need to change radius to a smaller amout as well.
  12. thanks guys i thought that i might just have to deal with it. i tried the axis sub and 5 axis curve, it's close to the same as i getting now.i'll try what nils suggested thanks again guys
  13. file is under cadam's ftp site in the mcx2 files folder as "shazam a axis test.z2g" i'll try the link again linky
  14. I up loaded my files to the FTP site. I'm milling the floor of a circuler part between two walls and i would like to use my A axis. everything looks fine except when i post it. I have quite a few A axis moves. i would think i would have one then step over in X and A then another A move then step over than an A move and so on. is this a post issue? i am using a modified mpmaster post. i end up doing alot of editing to shrink the program due to memory constraints. machine is a Fadal and this is just a test example. thanks here is the link: SHAZAM A AXIS TEST
  15. then just use in control, that puts the tool center on the geometry. when you backplot it go into your settings and turn off "simulate for cutter comp"
  16. 12'30" Dell Precision PWS 390 pentium 4 3.00GHz 2.99GHz, 2.00 GB ram Win XP PRO SP2 NVIDIA QUADRO FX3450/4000 SDI
  17. We were looking at a 5 axis Micron machine and the application guys there were using Mastercam and Powermill by Delcam. Over all he liked Mcam as a complete package, but preferred Powermill to do complex 5 axis work. i checked into powermill and the demo is pretty cool but then again aren't they all. I didn't play around with the demo disk much.. but just giving you an alternative.
  18. with the mac you can run windows as well like a shell. i remember this topic awhile back and someone was running MCAM on a MAC. try a search.
  19. nevermind i had to open page then click on "open FTP site in Windows Explorer".
  20. Gunther, where is the windows-system control?
  21. elraiis, Once you nail down your Machine def, control def, and your toolbars the rest is easy. the positives far out weigh any negatives. I use X2MR2 for mills and wire edm and our lathe programmer is still on ver 9.1, i tried messing with 9.1 and forget it i'll take x2 any day. But i've heard some guys hear say there really have been no improvement for the lathe. in X2 i can program wire or edm and not have to close one to open the other. you just need to break away from 9.1
