If you want hyperterminal all you need to do is grab the hypertrm.exe & hypertrm.dll from your xp box. (you could also get the .ht file for the setting if you saved it.)
:Edit: somewhere in the windows directory tree IIRC
There are standard hole / shaft tolerances that are designated with a (letter) (number) call out. Note that a k5 would be different from a K5.

IIRC there is a md/cd/post rename utility at Mastercam.com. Personally if that was the only difference, I would try flipping the output format with a mi switch.

:edit: make sure you have a backup B-)
My best guess about the issues you are trying to explain ....
In the config file under CAD setting is checkbox to update the Cplane & Tplane when changing the Gview.
Also if you go into your my mcamx6\config folder & rename the config file (with MC closed) a new one will be built with MasterCam default settings when you restart MC.
It could still be surfaces, Check Screens >> Statistics. Also if you pick a face & the whole model is selected it will be a solid. I believe you need the MC Solids add on to use Solid Layout.
Interesting. After changing in the control def & op defaults the optimize box comes up unchecked when I do a new path. (I just tried again and verified)
In options in verify (folder with red exclamation point) you can change it to what you need. IDK why it doesn't always pick up the stock set up values correctly.
The stop is just a modified drill. I have to tell MC the offset for length, #501,mr1.I had to modify the post for the desired output. You have to look at the post & find where the -G10 line is being output.
I use Miscellaneous Reals (MRs) to output the desire G10 line in the post, I leave it a little long & can then adust it closer to the spindle on the machine.

#501=1.51(LENGTH)
#502=.35(CLEARANCE)
G10P0Z-[#501+#502]
Note: you have to format the variables to output
fmt 11 mr2$ #Turn Length Macro No 501 - from first op CJH
fmt 11 mr3$ #Clearance Macro No 502 - from first op CJH
This is mine that works.

When I got my Win 7 PC I banged my head against the wall for quite a while till I found out I had to re-size the image down as the size CSS statements were cropping the upper right corner of the picture instead of scaling it down. at least that's what I think was happening as I was using the CSS that worked on my old XP box.
