  1. Thanks for the info I will check my version
  2. Running McamX3 MU1 I unzipped ArcMultiEdit to a folder I copied the ArcMultiEdit.dll and the ArcMultiEdit.ft files to the c-hooks folder I rebooted the computer but when I try to select the c-hook I get the error "Unknown file type" I cannot figure out whats wrong and would appreciate help Thanks for any advice
  3. When bringing in files from another source use unblank to make sure there are no hiden blanked enities
  4. I have the best luck selecting the arc then drawing a window around the entire part
  5. Analyze the geometry to see if you have splines if so realize that splines are not defined past their endpoints - also put c-plane in 2d when trimming
  6. In the top plane - geometry that is at the cenerline of the cylinder will end up at 0 degrees when it is wrapped - it also makes a difference if you wrap cw or ccw - if a line is created in the top plane in the Y direction with length set to the circference of the diameter then the midpoint of the line will be located at 180 and 1/4 of the line will be at 90 when the geom is wrapped
  7. Add one to the circle - boy have I neede that
  8. If it is essentially milling a thread write a contour toolpath and under rotary axis substitute the Y axis - assuming the part axis is X - and unroll the path to the diameter - set contour depth deeper if the thread is shallow I think the purpose of roll die is to align the OD of the cutter with the ceterline of the part as opposed to the axis of the cutter aligned with centerline of the part
  9. Be sure to uas a reference point when boring on lathe to prevent crashes
  10. In V9 side is right side - try setting the 3d to 2d
  11. slot width - cutter width = material to cut material to cut / no cuts = depth each cut z bottom of slot + material to cut - cut depth = z top of slot use contour or ramp with plunges
  12. Slot width - cutter width = material to cut material to cut / no cuts = depth each cut Top of stock - cutter width + cut depth = New
  13. create lines from the top chain to the bottom chain and use synce by branch point - even if the number of entities in the bottom and top chain is the same the sharp corners are a problem for mastercam
  14. Engrave needs a closed contour to work - given the error message maybe the tool is too large or the contours are not closed
  15. Solids can only be manipulated in Mcam if the Mcam solids is installed - set the WCS to the plane wanted or create edge curves and or surfaces to rotate copy or scale parts
  16. It would be nice if those who use and understand some of the c-hooks would share some info and tips - how about a thread dedicated to this topic
  17. Usually happens after runing verify - regenerate dispaly list to fix it
  18. Last is the broken blue arrow in the chaining menu
  19. Hold it in a fixture with the cam surface up use a finish toolpath blend
  20. To assign a new control def to a machine Go to settings - Machine definition manager - select the drop down arrow at the right of the control file box - choose the control def off of the list - now save the new configuration by selecting the floppy disk icon at the top of the screen
  21. It seems to happen when adv multiaxis toolpaths are selected - it always replaces the tool with a center drill then asks to update the toolpathsif the center drill is deleted and the original endmill is selected it gives an error until that tool is reselected
  22. I think I got the holes in the right location the depths need to be adjusted - cant post the file using your file from tne FTP - will e-mail you the result if you want

    V9 Lathe

In the top plane create a vertical line from the center line of the part the same length as the circuference of diameter - the end of line at the centerline will be at 0 the midpoint will be 180 etc
  24. Enhancement request On large deep face grooves the tools are limited to set diameters for clearance purposes How about an option to start the face groove at a set diameter inside the groove
