when I run 5axis programs and they don't start in the orientation I want I use Miscellaneous Values to set the axis in question to start in minus or positive, repost and see if that what I want.
gcode, don't know if this will help or not, I'm not a post guy, but this is what my post has on tool length;
#Nutating machine (mtype 3-5) describe the plane that the nutated axis
#lays in, this is the plane perpendicular to the primary axis and
#secondary axis
nut_ang_pri$ : -45 #Nutating head secondary axis angle from machine Z positive
#Tool length, typically for head/head machine, both set to zero disables
#Applied to the tool length, RA applies this along the tool
use_tlength : 1 #Use tool length, read from tool overall length #TF was 2
#0=Use 'toollength' var, 1=Mastercam OAL, 2=Prompt
toollength : 7.115 #Tool length if not read from overall length
shift_z_pvt : 1 #Shift Z by tool length, head/head program to pivot (Z axis only) #TF was 1 back to 1 10/27/05NN
#0=Pivot, 1=Pivot-Z, 2=Tool Tip Programming (without zero length)
#Option 2, So we can still take advantage of brk_mv_head feature
add_tl_to_lim : 0 #Add tool length after intersecting limit, always
#on if limit from stock
use_g45 : 0 #Use G45 offset with right angle head (RA)
g45_of_add : 30 #Add this number to tool length no. for G45 offset number
We have a xxxxor 8055 M controller, does anyone of filtering commands in the controller. I like the way Mastercam’s High speed tool paths are filtered and wonder if there is something similar in the controller?
Haven't really use Rough Flowline, but if you want to enter at a ramp change both the Plunge angle (z) and the XY angle to the same number and add your Plunge length, say 45 on Plunge angle and XY angle and 2 on Plunge length (just an example) and then how you want it to come out. See how it looks and if that's what your after. the Gap setting is on the 3rd Tab '[Rough flowline parameters', bottom right but I don't think that's your problem but you could try changing it to see what happens
Not knowing what tool path your trying to use it's a bit hard to say but you could use a surface blend tool path and it should flow through all three surfaces. Really need more info to know what your doing.
Rick, I hear you on not wanting to edit but sometimes there is no easy way. I use silhouette boundary and create all curves a lot for boarders. Usually it depends on who made the surfaces and how good a job they as to how much editing I have to. Some customers are better than others. All I can do is go in any edit, make a line, brake line, delete some and on and on
Update, for anyone concerned, in MR2 the function Create>Curve>Create Curve on All Edges has a defect and is logged as 30970. So if you use it in MR2 you could have problems.
The Tech folks at QC are looking into it.
Thad, I just tried Screen-Regenerate Display List and it stayed the same.
Rick, the surfaces are trimmed surfaces.
And as I said it works fine in MR1 SP1.
If anyone is interested I could put in on the FTP site,
Has anyone else seen this. When I use Create curve on all edges I get the red line in the photo.
What I did was;
Curve created in MR2 via, Create>Curve>Create Curve on All Edges.
the red curve is the result.
I saved the file and opened it in X2 MR1 SP1 and
the curve stayed the same.
I then copied the surface and in MR1 Sp1and
recreated the curve
Create>Curve>Create Curve on All Edges and got the resulting blue curve.
I'm also sending it in to QC
Thad, Your right it won't ungray for an MC file. It works with files like Solidworks extensions SLDPRT or SLDASM Files, not sure if it works with MC solids because I don't have solids. If you have a Solidwork file try it with that or any other solids program. Other wise you did everything correct.
