If your maintenance expires in or after August, you are good to go. If it expires prior to August you will NOT be able to run X2 MR2.

I am new to the forum. I use MC stricly for Lathe Mill/Turn applications. I am glad I am not alone looking for lathe updates. Are there any real lathe updates?? or will it be a big waste of time trying to get IT down here to install it on my box like last time. It takes IT at least 10 phone calls to do anything.

Yes it is a waste of time with regards to anything major for lathe. Ops manager, Levels, things like that got a face lift, but the core software not much has changed. They did add a peel mill toolpath and some other little bells and whistles for other things, but for lathe I would not waste my time.

Based on what I see here. I guess there is no real point in upgrading to MR2 if one is only using lathe???

Wise-ACR, with MR2 you'll stay even with SolidWorks, Solid Edge, Autodesk Products and all the latest kernels (as of yesterday that is). For some people that's critical, for others, it is not. You have to weight your own individual situation.

Thanks Apps Guy-Good point we do use Solidworks quite a lot. I am also trying to convince them to get the mill package-but they are not happy with Lathe.

It changed a couple of tools feeds and speeds in a couple of files.... Other than that, all's well.

Maybe X3 next year will address more lathe issues

When migrating your custom settings with a side by side, be aware that the paths will all still be pointing to the old install directories.

I think that a migration utility could and should take care of these potentially critical little items.

I installed MR2 over my MR1 installation. What a mistake. Continually get a "Unhandled Exception Occurred - Mastercam execution halted" error and bombs out my program. Installed on another machine and just keeps locking up. Uninstalled MR2 and went back to MR1 for the time being.

This is exactly why I have said I don't use migration. It doesn't work anyway and you have to point all of your setting anyway.

Well I missed a buttom somewhere or the operations manager modality is not working for me. When I exit mc with the operations manager closed (either docked or undocked) it is open when I start up mc the next time. Anyone else having this issue?

First impressions are that its a bit wierd/slow loading in. I get 2/3 of the title bar, then the ops manager and then the rest. This is on a brand new PC 4 gig ram fast HD Quad core processor and quadro 3500. Anyone else get this?

Also when you resize the ops manager window there is a noticable pause before it re-displays the new viewable area.

I got the same thing on our XP 64bit system. It installed on our 64bit Vista systems no problem. I looked up that error online and tried everything that was suggested, cleaning the temp directory, etc.

 

I had to get the MR2CD1 ISO file from our reseller and make a CD. Everything worked fine then.
