So do your communication skills... You only half-@$$ answered one of the questions. Your lack of knowledge REALLY shows.

Everyone gets defensive because they dropped oodles of money, and who wants to say that something sucks when they coughed up all that $?

JJ is right though, it isn't helping things get changed with mastercam. Would it hurt for mastercam to strive for better graphics quality? No, it wouldn't. Would it hurt for mastercam to come out with bug proned releases? No. Would it help if Mastercam did a lot of things...No, but when everyone just gets on the defensive, nothing gets accomplished.

Maybe if everyone banded together instead of sounding like a bunch of jackasses, we could accomplish something. We all payed the money for what we're using here. It is our lively-hood. Lets help push mastercam for a far superior product. Lets make this product loyalty actually be for something other than just because we dropped the coin!

What is the reason Mastercam X2 has all the dialog boxes that pop-up in front of the part and often have to be moved? Solidworks got rid of most of the pop-up windows years ago when they created a Property Manager where you enter data.

The Mastercam chaining arrow could be a lot clearer. I think this chaining arrow should be shaded just like the Solidworks Triad is rather than a wireframe .

So why dont you just program it with Solidworks ??

Come on its a freaking chaining arrow, if you dont know which way

you picked your geometry your in the wrong job. bonk.gifbonk.gif

I agree there is alwas inprovment and allot of us are testers and we do give allot of input for improvement every week. and once again this is not solidworks. but i also know that all Cad & cad-cam softwares need high end computers so upgrade then bitch.

So what is wrong with the MC UI beside you don't like the arrow and think it should be improved. I do think a thicker arrow would be good.

But I know that I do not have allot of issues with my computers and even running multy sessions.

As for all here they may support and fight for MC they are also the same people that help other everyday.I know that I have helped hundreds over the last 6 years here.

And I know I and many will contune to help.

JJ-8 you will find that you will become one of the teachers and and like us all still be the student.

/So what is wrong with the MC UI beside you don't like the arrow and think it should be improved./

What is the reason for having large dialog boxes that block the part and have to be moved all the time? Solidworks got rid of most of them years ago.

/I do think a thicker arrow would be good./

I often find myself squinting to see it. What Solidworks does with the shaded Triad is what Mastercam should do. Moving a part with the Solidworks Triad is also really nice. Even though my Mastercam X2 graphics are now much better, I still find it hard to see wireframe geometry laying on a shaded solid face in Mastercam X2. This is never an issue in Solidworks. No doubt a graphics engine would really help. I agree with the person who stated that those who start with Solidworks / Solidworks competitors or Adobe products expect more than the poor graphics in Mastercam X2. What possible reason could there be for not improving this aspect of Mastercam? Why not license the same graphics engine everyone else seems to use for Mastercam and make it a non-issue?

Again, MC DOES use the same engine. OpenGL is the engine. You're asking them to license an Add-On. You willing to pony up the cost for the additinal 3rd Party costs assiciated?

Solidworks is just one of many companies that use HOOPS. Like Parasolid it is the defacto mcad industry standard.

/Because they just knew some Solidworks user would come along wanting this enhancement and they wanted to save it for then. they prolly wont fix it in X3 either/

Probably not.

prolly an anonymizing proxy server

No contact info, no location info, no company info,a proxy server and all this talk about what MCAM should do.

He's either a shill for another company or he's some 20 y/o kid just out of school who heard one of the engineers say something like this and now he's going to spout it all to us.

Either way this one is full of sh*t and IMO should not be given any lip service.

That's just my opinion and as you guys know I never feel strongly about anything

/and should they license and use HOOPS, people

will scream bloody murder about the added cost./

No other product charges extra for HOOPS.

of course they do.. the companies using HOOPS

have to pay for it and they pass it along to thier customers.... just like Mastercam passes

the licensing charges for the parasolid kernal along to you.... nothing is free....

new graphics drivers... new charges..nothing

sinister about it, its just business.

e-Drawings. Price for standard version = Free.

Graphics engine in e-Drawings = Techsoft HOOPS

Graphics quality in e-Drawings blows Mastercam X2 away.

It is a free download for anyone that wants to see what HOOPS can do graphics wise vs. Mastercam X2

Why did you turn off the back buffer? We don't and it runs just fine.

On my cheepie Quadro 500 FX I have in my Shuttle, if I don't turn of the Back Buffer, backplot is real jerky and doesn't work properly.

Also grafical verify is glitchy.

I think it is all about what hardware combo's you have determines if you need to turn it off.
