I need a post......

I have an idea. If someone comes to this forum to request a post, please wait for the webmaster or someone else from InHouse respond. It must be tiring for 15 different people to jump all over the same person and request that they read the FAQs or contact a reseller. This can alienate people who MIGHT be legitimate MC users. We do not need 15 different emastercam guard dogs on standby, ready to pounce.

We are quite capable of responding to these posts and dealing with them quickly, instead of starting long flame wars.

Rekd,

Have you ever seen the movie "little big man" with Dustin Hoffman? You sometimes remind me of the indian who talked and rode his horse backwards. Not that you do things backwards but that you prefer to paddle upstream when everyone else is paddling downstream. biggrin.gif I like that character trait in a person. It's what keeps things interesting. cheers.gif

Phil,

Haven't seen it, but I concurr. I'm outside the box for sure, and am very hard headed.

I'll not sit by while these people blatently(sp) disregard the polocies of this great place. If we'er gonna start sensoring what we can post then it defeats the purpose of posting here. This place got to where it is today because of all the things that have been going on for YEARS.

If you feel it's wrong to bash people that obviously are being stupid, then don't. But to try to force someone else to act the way you 'want' them to is obsurd.

For the n00bs, if you get alienated because you get a bloody nose for not following the rules, so be it.

If you're a man (or woman) instead of a mouse, you'll admit you messed up and move on to get ALL THE HELP you'll prolly ever need. How many n00bs did this, then saw they messed up and are now outstanding citizens here??? I've seen many members get bashed then be upstanding enough to come back and make the best of it. (You know who I'm talking to, guys wink.gif )

So until the powers that be tell me in no un-certain terms to lay off the idiots, I'll have my flame thrower out and loaded.. If and when they do tell me to back off, my contributions will quickly subside with it.

Besides, the admins have better things to do than to police everything every day. Several times, (more often than not, actually,) the situations were dealt with without the admins intervening.

If we were to take a look at life and see what everyone esle see then we would see it all. It is the people who point out the things we dont not see in life that make life the great thing it is. It is the difference of our country that make it great and give it it character. Are there things in this world that make most of us go what where they thinking. It is the ability to point or or have it pointed out to you any different than the thing that might be rigth there in front of you. It is this forum greatness of sharing and helping and having the intellgent people who give to it that make it what it is. The idea that soemone comes in here and wants something that most of us have paided alot for in not just money but in time, sweat, time away from our familes, and other reason is why you get the responses and thoughts from the members in here. I will say this in closing the Webmaster and other people can only do so much so sorry if we want to help and do what we feel come natural to some of us.

Peace Out.

Guys, keep in my that there are at least 5-10 people from In House that frequent this forum. They are quite capable of supervising this forum. I too have been guilty of "getting personal" in the past, and it doesn't work to anyone's advantage.

If you can help someone that has a question, please continue to do so. That is the reason for the existence of this forum.

+100,000,000 to you 'rekd cheers.gif

There is noooo need for people to come here and for the first post, ask for a free post.

Maybe you should have to check off an "accept" box upon registration that you "have" read and "understood" the FAQ'S that nobody seems to read anyway. mad.gif

This way the people who get sick of it can tell 'em how it is.

There is no need for ignorance.

Sometimes I wonder how 3 days in a row, people just happen to join here and everyday, someone needs a "free" post. rolleyes.gif

Great post Peter. I hope the moderators who read the childish crap that goes on here read your post and take note. The moderators have proven themselves to be much more capable of handling these cases without sending new Mastercam customers away feeling they made a mistake in purchasing their software. I'm sure that many resellers use this forum as a selling point. I know mine does. And these ARE new users and future customers who are being berated. Really, it's understandable that a new user would ask for post help or even a new post. If a member or moderator would ask them to read the FAQ and rephrase the question, that would probably be sufficient to make the point. The post question has become a major pet peeve of some people, and instantly brings them to fury. It's not even rational.

If some of the members here feel they are having their freedom of speech infringed upon and think they must protest by leaving, that would be unfortunate. Much knowledge and potential help for all would be lost. But the forum would survive very nicely, and maybe be a better place.

Understandable? How's that?

quote:

Q. Does anyone have a post for a [insert machine or control name here]?

A. Ask this question as your first message here and you won't necessarily like the responses you receive. Look to your reseller to supply you with the proper post for your machine, or quote for the work that needs to be done.

If you have something and are looking for improvements, it's a reasonable request. Maybe tell us why the post you have needs improvement.

Perhaps try to participate a bit on the Forum before you go asking for something. Not unlike Habitat for Humanity, we value Sweat Equity here. Quid pro quo, Clarice.

You may also want to let everyone know your company name so that your Hotmail or Yahoo email account doesn't give everyone the impression that you aren't a licensed Mastercam user.

Smit, might I suggest that YOU read the FAQ. tongue.gif

These in particular..

...Ask this question as your first message here and you won't necessarily like the responses you receive....

This is clearly not done by those who make posts like this. Besides, venting is good for reducing stress.. wink.gif Not to mention the fact that it makes for good reading.

Fury? As in blind rage? or un-controllable anger? LoL. That's funny. biggrin.gif

I don't know about anyone else, but to me it's very amusing. (Note the reference above about 'good reading')

I've spent many hours post editing. and before I knew of the forum I had to figure things out all by my self. since joining this I've learned so many things. Typing is not one of them biggrin.gif . So for a FNG to stop in and say gimme gimme gimme in there first sentence is the reason I started the free post for newbies thread.

you get out of it what you put into it cheers.gif

Smit if you would please pay attention to how this was handled by us the

quote:

childish crap that goes on here

was not by us.

The commnets like this:

quote:

Well I guess that that I will not get any help from you guys. I thought that maybe someone could be able to help out a fellow CNC'er. All I wanted was a guide on where to start to fix my software or one of the installed posts was close. Obviously your heads are so far up Mastercam's xxxx that you are superior to everyone else who is getting the run around from Mastercam. You can take it and cram it with walnuts!

How's that for attitude!

This also has to have me wonder if he is so fluent in Mastercam then why would he ask for things this way:

quote:

Anyway I am looking for a post processor to save my aching finger. I am quite fluent with Mastercam but I am having a horrible time with this.

Then the thing we all could see from the start came out in this comment:

quote:

Why should I fork out another $1500.00 for a post processor? Mastercam should be giving it away.

And it you back and look at this thread all I did is the same thing the Moderatros do and is put up the FAQ'S. Childish Behavior by who?

I think if you go back and look and what you consider childish you might think about the professional resposes for the most part alot of people get. I would like to see a guy with this type of attutide come into your shop or anyone of the other professional shops in here and start spouting crap like this and see how long they work thier.
