I use pocket to finish holes sometimes after circle mill when I want it really close

Turnoff roughing and set spring passes to 10 or so. It will circle round and round without leading off for the duration of the spring passes

Just use circle mill and set the overlap

Right click in the overlap box and choose length of entity....choose the circle, that will give you a full free pass.....multiply to get more cuts if needed

Helix bore too

Just put 10 in the free pass and it will go round and round. You can still set an overlap.

Sample code out put. 1.0 circle with 1/2 inch endmill. Free pass set to ten overlap at .05.

Mine posts a lead and lead off with each multipass even if it's set at 0 step over. But I'm stuck in the stone age's on x 9 so maybe 2017 will post that way

Yup. I am running 2018. In X9 you do not have a freepass option so you would need to approach it the way JP said. Although I still hate the interface there are some really good additions to basic tool paths.

Thanks guys,

Dylan, I sent the zip to your email

Span, I got it to work by making the total depth + distance to top = divisible by the pitch

Initially I had the distance to top (.100") divisible by the pitch (.050")... and I thought (still think) that should have worked

As you found, the behavior for this is dependent on the entire length of the hole, plus start clearance, being divisible by the pitch.

I logged D-47177 to ensure that the start angle you're entering is respected regardless of total stacked depth and pitch. If we enact this change, and afterwards if you wanted a quadrant point end angle as well, you'd still have to make sure that your total depth is divisible by pitch, but this Defect # is intended to fix the current issue where you have to continually play around with start angle to get it where you want.

Because I'm fighting 360 arc output issue once again, even though I set the arc parameters, I still get tiny segments

Helix bore does 360 arcs, contour ramp won't

Would post a picture, but for some reason I can't because file size too large, even if I try to re-post the same picture I posted above

A piece of geometry, your machine/.control def and post would be helpful

This is a Contour Ramp going 1" deep at .125 per

Thanks for helping JP

I'm my own worst enemy, it was the linearize helix checkbox

I still think they should fix the helix bore bug, when you set the start angle and the depth doesn't divide evenly by the pitch, Mastercam seems to translate the start angle to an end angle, the the start just ends up where the math puts it.

Maybe it should be max pitch instead of a hard coded pitch value

I've never done helix bore and not wanted 360 arcs and nice simple code output from the quadrant

I bet some of you guys have done threads though that have the starts called out?

A major impediment to doing so- anyone that had previously set up a specific start angle parameter would have their helix bore shift clocking if they regenerated.
