  2. Yes I've run into this too. I offset the geometry of my Grove tool. that works just as well.
  3. Here we gooooooooooooo
  4. Thanks again I'll give this a try.
  5. OK I'M SURE this has been covered before, but I can’t seem to find it. I'm running a haas mill with the generic haas 4x mill with x2. How can I change the post so it does not move the table to the g28 position every time the tools change? Also on a second not how could I change the post to output a move to a g154 p99 position if I set it to the front of the machine for a part change position. Is this the way most of you handle your part change position? Thanks in advance Seth
  6. Thanks guys, Its nice to know I'm not opening Pandora’s box...............
  7. I've been threading for awhile now, but today while looking at the tool and insert section I noticed under the insert geometry a threads/inch field. I've never changed this before. How does this affect my threading? For instance I need to thread a 1-1/4-7 on one side of a part then a 1-1/2-6 on the other side. I'm using a vardex od threading tool with some iscar inserts. The inserts are good for both thread pitch’s ( 5-7 ) so what should I input the insert geometry. I should have just stayed away. Ignorance is bliss.
  8. Thanks randy, This would be for a VM-3
  9. Just wondered if anyone is using the optional probing with their haas machines? Also if you are do you have the standard with the tool post or do you have the advanced with the laser. Any pros and cons would be great. I'm trying to decide if I should get this option and if I do which one should I go with. Thanks again, Seth

    HAAS POST

send me the post i can update it for you.
  13. I'm not sure about Haas, but I've seen advertised for fadals a stand alone base that plugs into the rs232 that has a usb slot. just save the file to your usb and then place it in the unit and it sends. Sounds pretty easy....though I never seen one in person.....
  14. OK so I can do the OD thread, guess I would use the same concept on the Id piece that I have to make to mate the OD thread.
  15. Ok I've been turning for awhile now, but this is the fist left handed thread I’m suppose to make. It’s a 2-1/2 4 left handed thread 18" inch long out of 2-1/2 cold roll. I don’t see any options under threading for left handed Any Help would be greatly appreciated. I'm turning with haas sl30 Thank Seth
  16. offset g54, g55, g56 ect. I just copy my tool paths and then go to tool planes and number each group 0 through 4 for instance would give you an output of g54,g55,g56,g57. then set these offset in your machine.

    Haas Vm3

It sounds pretty mixed. It would be brand spaken new. 30hp 12,000 rpm spindle inline drive. with 3d look ahead, 1000 psi through spindle coolant, chip auger, ect.

    Haas Vm3

Just wondered what people thought of these machines. Do you have one and what are the benefits and disadvantages that you see.. Thanks, Seth
  19. thread form all the way
  20. If you dont have through spindle coolant you might be able to use a coolant ring.
  21. High Helix best way to go
  22. I would imagine this is a boring bar. I've had this happen a couple times also. Now I’ve resorted to putting a retract point on every boring bar op that I run.
