  1. Ok so if I go into chaining options and I check the closed chains and the open chains it will now select the text. However before I used to get a select the starting point now I don’t get that it just goes right into the tool parameters for contour after I select the green check.......
  2. I wish I had something good to say, but Haas just bought back there vm3 after eight months of trying to figure out what was happening. I applaud them for stepping to the plate and buying back the machine, but it cost us a fortune in customer relations, building payments, lost work ect. You name it. I am going to be very wary no matter what machine we might be replacing this machine with.....
  3. Everything is on one level. With the cplane or 3d selected it will still not work. With inside outside you name it. I'm not sure at this point what to do. I used to use this function all the time I never had a problem before. Now it just says select contour chain 1 and that’s it....
  4. I'm having a problem selecting chains with window is anyone else having this problem in x-3 I'm not sure what would be causing this issue. Any help would be great. thanks
  5. Ok so I figured out how to do it.......I used cross contour then changed everything to negative offsets. Doesn’t seem to back plot correctly but when I look at he code it looks good....
  6. Oh yeah the zip to go name is Loadcarbushings sorry
  7. Ok so I know I've seen a couple post about cutting id grease grooves on brass bushings. I'm trying to use cross contour with the c axis on a helix spline. I'm using x3 with a haas lathe with live tooling. The path I'm trying to achieve is similar to a boring bar with a sharp tip pointing up feeding in with the spindle rotating to create the helix. I've posted a zip to go in the x3 files folder if anyone would like to take a look at what I've got so far. With the contour type on 3d I get the motion that I want other than the retract, and I would like to be able to step out into the part with dept cuts....... Any help would be greatly appreciated
  8. I agree on the I and J's out with the R's.
  9. We have a vm3 just over 8 months old. So far we’ve had 3 spindles in it, glass scales added to it, countless techs parts, boards you name to try and fix this machine. We still cannot machine a simple part with this machine. We sent this exact same program with the tools and material to haas and on there machine it ran perfect. This machine has to be a total lemon...........There’s probably a total of 120 hours of cutting time on this machine since we’ve had it..............And we still don’t know the problem is......Time to Send this boat anchor back.................
  10. Now I'm taking very small steps .002 per pass. I'm using c-axis cross contour, using depth cuts. For the tool I'm just saying that its a end mill.
  11. I see allot of post about renshaw, is anybody out there using marposs....just wondered I was thinking about trying to set up a post for my haas mill for this, but I don’t know much about it....
  17. I think troy has the right idea sounds like your remachining a part that you have previously run. Although the surface method does create a cleaner file.
  18. I found the classes put on by the resellers were very good.
  19. No problems here must be something with your setup...
  20. I never had a problem cutting a strait line. on a classic.
  21. This is a quick fix. It works your just measuring the distance between two points. I also have the marposs spindle probe with the laser tool pre setter. Hey bob231068 let me know how it works I’m interested in your result with the marposs and the haas.
  22. If you want to get things running right away you could jog the spindle nose down to a 5.0 gauge block and then under position zero out your z location. Then jog the head back up and put in ball nose tool or a rod. Jog the head back down to the same 5.0 blocks. This will give you the length of that tool in the spindle. At this point you can use that tool with the known length to re calibrate the probe.
  23. Well Hell i had to post somthing.....
