guys, i use mastercam for almost everything, but.....
i utilise hypermill for my 5 axis trochoidal milling, the link below will give a small preview
Seco Jabro 20 dia, 160 mtrs/min, 38mm deep, 5mm stepover, and 1.25mm/rev, this female compressor screw was finished in 2 hours, and i got 6 rotors from the one tool.

Eric,
i also use these tools on 5 axis, from the 16mm dia upto 100 dia, the 16 to 35 dia run at 300mtrs/min rpm, 0.8mm doc, and .7fpt, the 52 to 100 dia run at 225mtrs/min rpm and 1.5mm doc and around 2mm per tooth, tried seco, they were pretty good but did not touch the iscar tools, and Sandvik tool which literaly melted !
Ron and Aaron, thanks very much for your help and advice
I did contact my reseller, and he passed this onto Karlo at CNC a while back, but i have had no response.
IT have locked everything out here so i cannot get video capture software, I have mailed Aaron in the hope he has vericut, and i can send him a sample that way
P.S. I have been using mcam for almost 30 years, and it is my favourite !!! used most of the big software systems but i always return to mcam, i just seem to be able to do the work much more easily
QUOTE Compressor Sam - There's an option on your Tool Axis Control about where on the tool to cut with, and one of the options is "leading edge," That might get you on the path.. Or, you can work with Ron, and that WILL get you on the path
Aaron, i have tried this, but ineed to be precise in the positioning, 4mm either side of my mean value and i do not get the HIGH feeds available
i.e. with a 100 dia tool the best position on the y axis is 34mm, if i had this precise control, i could program my screw compressors in 2-3 hrs
We have ours controlled by our toolvend system, so i know who takes out what, AND returned to a re-cycle bin, everything is logged out, and then registered as returned to the re-cyle bin. I know you have asked for this option, and as here our "powers" took a lot of convincing, It really is superd way to monitor tooling and returns.
I agree, This is an excellent toolpath, i tried using this to machine our screw compressors, and it is very quick to program, the only downside i had with it, is when changing my preferred tooling to high feed tools, i could not get any control on forcing the tool to cut on the leading edge.
Unfortunately no, but i think this info is available somewhere on the Sandvik website, i am sure i have seen an actual cutting data sheet, i will look and post if i find it
I have not machined any impellars yet, but intend to , we had a study completed by Sandvik, for a titanium impellar, i have attached if this is of any use ?
CCAT_Machining_Introduction.ppt
Just back from Austria, i was inspecting the progress of our new machine, due to be installed 1st march 2012, a Wfl Millturn M120 5000, this will give us a capacity to turn 1200mm dia 5mtrs long
65 kw turning spindle and 60 kw milling spindle !!!
it can be done with multi axis, i used 5 axis curve, creating a tool axis curve which the angle of the tool needs to be set at,
my post outputs x and c axis moves, it will depend on your post setup, how your output is?
i cannot attach anything or upload to the FTP site, our IT has everything tied down !!!
Brad,
if it`s really big parts, you will not get better than a WFL millturn, but VERY expensive, we have 2 and are considering purchasing another
linky

This also has something to do with why users are having issues with the McamX5 install
Gents,
I am not one of the Mcam detractors who frequent this site, i have used it since v3 ?
And i had no problems with setting up X5
i have stup my machine sim for my millturn in X5, and all the axis in edit mode works pretty well, but i kept getting an error code when booting up, only to be told by my reseller that it will not run in turning mode, does any of the guru`s know when it will be available for multi tasking machines ?
