  1. when moving the arrow on the arc it will travel past the end of the arc. is there a way to make the arrow stop at the end of the entity? billy

  4. Ha ha Haas? Cmon guys. how many of you guys can put a 15000 lb block of fx d2 on a haas. I got some buddy's that do dies and they have converted hydrotel and a pratt and whitney wolverine. along with some other p and w verticals. The wolverine is rated for 40,000 lbs table capacity. I have seen the hydrotel with 25,000 lbs on the table. who has put that much weight on a haas? Please tell us how it worked.

  6. +1 murlin, in the not to distant future we will look back at this as a growing pain. I know guys who still don't use the toolpath manager. It seems almost unthinkable to me because I started using it in v7. when only 2d toolpaths were associative. Solids were being developed about the same time and many of the old programmers I know still havent learned that yet. My point is ,we have the choice of when we learn X. If you wait a year X will be more advanced but you will be a year behind. I am sure the new program will evolve into things that the old one never could. Mastercam got us this far and our options are wide open, but just remember."Last years Mastercam is still better than this years Gibbs". Billy

I used autocad long ago and thought it was very easy to use. but using mcam for designing always seemed to take so many less keystrokes. in fact I would say from my experience , I could draw 2 or 3 times faster than with acad.
  8. Peter Scott I was refering to the lead in and out in contour. use start point and end point. omit the line length and use a small rad. It works great.
  9. to start the tool on the center of the hole I use the center for the start and end point and use a small radius for lead in. I dont put in a line length. it starts and ends in the center and doesn't need the line length.
  10. Now that I look at it I think radial will do it, but it cuts across the part. project may be better if you choose to cut along the arc direction.
  11. This looks like one of those rare times that radial would work really well. What kind of tooling to hold this part. Billy
  12. if you use the inside contour for the boundary and click inside for the tool containment. It does reduce the amount of air cut. you can do it better with pocket.

I don't think you can go too slow on rpms, I normally start reamers at 100-200 rpm no matter what the material. feed at 2-3 for harder matals, 5 for aluminum.I will also use g81 cycle. the longer the reamer stays in the hole the more it takes. also I have never indicated a reamer.the reamer will follow the existing hole. if you do it this way and it still comes out oversize it usually means the reamer is bent. billy
  14. sounds like a job for a custom drill cycle, I have one that uses the l9401 feature on fadal. I think it could be altered to make a generic mill bore cycle.
  15. I'm with midwest on this. Make your gap setting greater than the distance betweem the cut levels. I usually use the "follow surface" option. Billy

  17. Chop, The best thing that I remember about acroloc were the girls they had at westec. They would have 10 - 20 honeys in red shorts and white t shirts. They had the most popular booth ay the show.

We have used wax to fill in the honeycomb. then we used flat bottom end mills to cut the part. tooling was pretty regular.with dowels and clamps. to melt the wax out we made a big wooden box with a hole in one end for a heat gun. it isn't very fast but it will melt the wax out just fine. billy
  20. I have used it at tri tech and also have a seat at my shop. billy
  21. I have used it for a while. I find it really for in process inspection and 1st article inspection. I have used it for probing on fadels and have used it on faro arms as well as cmm's. i have only seen dimis and was not very impressed. the language base is a thing of the past.
  22. Lars, This sounds a little strange because when I make geo from solids I don't get double entities. Not like surfaces where I always get double edge curves. I take my time selecting individual surfaces instead of using all surfaces. I find it faster then trying to delete too much geometry. Billy
  23. surface, project use curves or nci create,curve, project will draw them but you have to use 3dcontour
