so far one question. Pg.9 I see bolt circle (points) is being removed (replaced) by boltcircle.dll *net-hook*. will this behave like c-hook? Meaning, hit alt-c and pull this up? I realize that we can custom map c-hooks but will this work the same way???

I don't mean to step on Ken, but the answer is yes, Lou. Alt+C will still bring up the c-hooks, and now net-hooks as well. The boltcircle.dll will now make circles or points too. Very cool!

I see all the file converters are now just file open. X must recognize the extension and use the appropriate converter. Correct?

Does anyone know if you can just double click on a lathe file,and it will open up in lathe (not mill)???

I am soo sick of having to open up lathe and then file/get.....

Yes very different when it come to this. X is now Machine Defintion controlled for the file and not file controlled for the session. A big huh just went up. Well what I mean is if it is only a lathe file then Lathe MD will be present and that will be the over ridding factor in how it starts. G-Code will do lathe stuff using one set of MD and then do his Mill stuff in the same file using a Md for a mill and then another MD for that mill. He can then click post all and like the Different NCI names will post different program in V9 the MD will do the same for different machines and different posts all at one time and be done with it.

There are no lathe or mill files, just X-files.

Storkman,

You use the File menu-Open dialog box to open and convert files. Select a file type from the Files Of Type list and Mastercam will seamlessly translate the file. Certain file types will display an Options button, which lets you specify conversion parameters for that file format.

You know that in V9 you can right click the file and pick on "Open with" and your Lath9 is right there next to mill9. I do it about 100 times a day lol.

But I am glad we are actually hearing the usefull info about x.
