Installed Mastercam Versions

I was wondering if any of you have more than one version of Mastercam installed on your pc? I have X7, X8, X9 and 2017 currently installed and was wondering if there is any reason I should have any other version installed besides the current version?

only if you have old files that 2018 will not open, i have X5 2017 and 2018

i have a ton of V7 files that i need every now and then for repair work, so i have an old computer with V7 and V9, then i can bring the V9 into X5 and X5 to 2017

I need to remove X7 as I usually have 4 versions at a time. As of today I X7,X8,X9,2017 and 2018

X6, X9 and about to install 2018. Will probably keep them all on per htm01 above. We have a bunch of V9 progs. lurking in the files here.

And I'm going to keep the latest and greatest "old style" interface just for nostalgia sake.

I've got V9 X6 7 8 and 9 plus MC2017 and 2018 on this machine

We've got files going back to V7 and the newer versions won't open the old files

I have X6, X9 and 2018.  

 

I still have quite a few old programs made in X6 and with so many considerable changes made to the SHS paths, When I open the files in the new versions of the software  the containment boundaries don't work as they did in the past.  I keep X6 just for those files.

 

X9 I'll keep until I get used to 2018.

X6 is sunset icing

May 31, 2017 is the cutoff date for MC2018

X9 for primary use. 2017 that I've logged about half an hour in and that's all I could stomach of the interface.  2018 downloaded but not installed; I plan to give it a shot soon and try using a 2nd keyboard programmed with single-key macros for as many functions as possible:

Man I wish we were on maintenance......I have X8 with Verisurf and X9. X9 is set-up to my liking and it sucks having to go back to x8 and probe/ reverse things and have  to bring them back to x9. Would be nice to have everything upgraded. Is everyone here on maintenance or are you buying the new versions as they come out, it seems like there is some pretty big jumps between versions.

The penalties for catching up on expired maintenance are harsh.

If you let your seat get 3 versions behind, it's cheaper to buy a new seat than catch up the old.

It's either that or I can open each part in SW and export as Parasolid.  That may be the more efficient rout.

X5 (My favorite of the X series) , X7, X8, X9 And 2017. Just havent had time to install 2018. 

 

Any chance of legacy paths? I really am missing good old parallel and shallow.

Right click in the OP's manager, they're there...just didn't get set in the menu's
