  1. They're still working on permissions. It will be fixed...
  2. Unfortunately I think that if CNC Software doesn't pick up the pace for fixing old issues and enhancing the product lots more people will drop out. I hope it's not too late by the time they figure it out.
  3. quote: ^^^ good to know, thanks Tom +1 This is what I have. Asus monitor Price was slightly better a couple weeks ago but still a sweet deal. The only negative thing I could say is that it's not height adjustable but in a work environment you could just put them up on a spacer if you really needed them higher. I got used to the height in a couple days and the tilt feature is helpful. Before you opt for dual monitors make sure your video card is up to the task though
  4. I have a 28" Hannspree monitor at home which is really cool as a monitor and also works great for Playstation 3 via HDMI. At work I just upgraded to dual 24" ASUS monitors from newegg ($180 each-free shipping) Dual 24's is the only way to fly at work. Anything larger would cause too much head turning to look from one screen to the other. I love being able to have a CAD or CAM program open on one screen and a .pdf document or website on the other or even 2 copies of the same software if I am comparing files(i.e. trying to figure out how my Control Definition got all ****ed up ). Your mileage may vary depending upon how much multi-tasking you do. My thoughts regarding a huge monitor is that there is no advantage to the really big ones. You wouldn't be able to look at a 46" screen right in front of you on the desk (it would have to be placed further away). So comparing a 24" screen right within 2 feet from your nose and a 42" screen located 6 feet away what would be the advantage ? If I had to have one large screen on a desk I wouldn't want it any bigger than about 30" P.S. make sure it's 1080P not 720P
  5. I'd use Surface Finish Shallow and restrict the depths enough to keep it out of the deeper areas. All surfaces drive, no check surf. Another thing you could do is Xform Translate your check surface down .010 or so which would probably allow the SF Parallel operation to work... I really prefer "SF Shallow" though.
  6. 1.I would get Win7X64 but not just for memory usage... Why buy new machines with an older or less powerful operating system ? 3. Mastercam is beginning to utilize multi-core processors. Not sure about SW but I'd guess they are. 4. I think the Quadro FX cards are a waste of money now. After 18 months experience with the Nvidia GTX295 I feel my video card is doing everything I need it to for Mastercam & Topsolid. Since you say you're using Solidworks I think you may want to consider something from Dassault Systemes Solidworks recommended video card list.
  7. LOL, Thanks guys. Just don't make too much commotion because the paparazzi have finally started to back off a little
  8. Grinding to a shoulder can be a nuisance. Bell mouth should never be an issue. I would rough to near finish size then let it spark out completely, measure hole size and make final size adjustment and let it spark out completely again. I don't recall the manufacturer of the wheels we used or even how rough the wheels were but I'd recommend using the largest and coarsest wheel you can get away with for the given situation... When chasing a bell mouthed hole in the jig grinder I would often manually over-ride the up/down stroke for several passes to keep the tool focused wherever the material was remaining. Easy in a jig grinder... A nuisance in the CNC mill I'm sure... How deep are these holes usually ?
  9. It's been a while since I've done any jig grinding and I've never tried it in a CNC mill. Borazon wheels sound like a good choice. Feed & Speed sound OK too... I have to wonder how fast the air spindle goes. I am thinking that a faster air spindle is the only way to speed the process unless you can reduce the amount of material left to grind away. How long is it taking to finish a hole ? Are these blind or thru holes ?
  10. Dave, What you're looking for is... C:mcamx4commoneditorsmastercammcxstart.exe
  11. It's really going to hurt your brain for a while but it's definitely worth the effort. Forget the keyboard shortcuts and focus upon customizing the icons the way you like them and add your most frequently used items to your right-mouse-button menu. In a few short months you'll find that if you have to open V9 for something it will be very annoying. Hey as long as you're learning something new... Maybe throw in a Space Pilot to help offset your losses. You won't regret it especially for only $77... Well I guess Joe beat me to it
  12. quote: Bandwidth permitting! If cost of hosting is the issue... And since this is most definitely the best support tool CNC Software has available... Perhaps CNC Software could foot the bill for bandwidth ? To me it seems like a bargain whatever the cost because imagine the implications of everybody trying to get support directly from CNC Software instead of here... They'd have to hire a dozen more people to answer e-mails.
  13. The ability to attach files directly to a thread would be a great benefit since so many people have issues using the .ftp service. quote: Its already there My Profile/Preferences Hide Avatar I think she wants to see avatars but not "circles" in signatures...
  14. Reko, make sure you spend some time tweaking it. For me the default setting which uses forward/backward to zoom in/out didn't make sense but you can switch the axis around so up/down = zoom in/out... There are tons of options and if you take some time to learn what they do you'll find yourself really enjoying your new tool.
  15. The Space Pilot is used with your left hand at the same time a traditional mouse is used with your right hand. The Space Pilot allows you to zoom, pan, and spin the screen in most CAD CAM programs in an extremely precise and efficient way. It is as if you can reach into the screen and twist your model around with your hand. This ease of positioning allows the CAD CAM user to stay more focused on the task at hand because there is no interruption to zoom in or out or otherwise reposition the part on screen. The Space Pilot very rapidly becomes a device you cannot live without. At this price the unit will easily pay for itself with time savings within the first month. Check it out here... 3D Connexion
  16. Can you just extrude with sharp corners then add a fillet ?
  17. I didn't have to mess with the registry. Just disable customer feedback and be done with it.
  18. quote: it looks like my fire wall was blocking the consumer feedback program i simply deactivate the feedback and everything works like it should now the problem came from an update of XP Sweet ! Disabling the customer feedback works ! Thanks.
  19. You should try to get a temporary trial of the solids license before you decide. I've never used inventor but I'd guess it's a lot more advanced than Mastercam. I have a MC solids license but I almost never use it because I can do solid modeling in my other software much more efficiently and then just import a parasolid file to Mastercam.
  20. A little googling seems to suggest that you're having trouble with the "hasp" protection that Mastercam uses. Is this a legal seat or a pirated one ? Which version of Mastercam are you trying to install ? I am wondering if the hasp driver on an older version of Mastercam would possibly not work properly on Windows 7 or Vista ? Just guessing... If this was the case I'd probably try downloading a driver directly from Aladdin (hasp manufacturer)...
  21. Just because you can see the art tab doesn't mean you actually have it. If you want to know what is on your hasp go to Start>All Programs>Mastercam X4 (or whatever version you use)>Hasp X...... This shows what is licensed on your hasp.
  22. So this is an "April Fools" prank, right ?
  23. I do use template files in a limited fashion. For this enhancement request I wouldn't want CNC Software to bother actually creating any templates as that could be easily left up to the user but what CNC should do is to make a special Mastercam Template file format and integrate it with the File Open dialog. I have this feature in other software I use and it's very handy.
  24. Always imported from other systems in my case. Usually from parasolid...
  25. Not sure if this applies to your situation or not but I have been burned by cutting 3D toolpaths directly on a solid in MC. Creating surfaces from the solid and using those for "drive" instead of the solid has always fixed the issue. I ran into this often enough that I never toolpath directly on a solid anymore except maybe drilling or 2-D contours...
