  1. quote: Could someone email it to John im on the road today Done. I failed to unbend it with Topsolid. Not sure if the problem is me or the software.
  2. I'd like to have a shot at it. Topsolid has some sheet metal tools including flattening that I just don't get much opportunity to play with...
  3. quote: Does it happen to anyone else? Yes ! Please submit this to QC if it bothers you. I've been whining about many Ops Manager issues for a long time and would love to see it overhauled.
  4. quote: So what size of monitors is everyone running? I ‘m going to do a duel setup and wasn’t sure if the square, or wide screen was better for any reason. Just wanted some input. I have a single 21" wide screen. I'd prefer around a 24. I don't need duals but I'm sure it would be nice too. I have a definite preference to the wide screen format. With most CAD/CAM software having some sort of operations manager on one side of the screen I feel very strongly that widescreen makes a lot more sense. If you use a traditional 4:3 monitor the graphics area feels really restricted. Regarding your question about distortion... I believe the trick is to set your computer to match the "native resolution" of the monitor.
  5. Issues we've seen... 1. "Stock to leave" wasn't honored on an operation that was copied. I haven't reported to QC because I can't repeat it. 2. In another issue which has been logged by QC I had a wire 4-axis contour that basically cut a conical hole but the defining arcs were broken into 2 pieces and it cut fine with zero stock to leave but If I modified the stock to leave value the toolpath got all screwed up. Mostly we have had pretty good luck with X4MU1 wire.
  6. Check your file paths. I am using an updated mill.set with X4-MU1 and it runs perfectly. Due to MC's migration being a complete disaster you probably have the X4 looking at an older version of the mill.set setup sheet...
  7. @CNC Apps Guy > @ anybody else, send them a message about it. I don't believe I ever mentioned it to In-House.
  8. Some of the real gurus may have better advice for you but my "poser guru" technique would be deleting anything that says "CNC Software". Of course I don't have to stress the importance of backing up the entire registry before you change anything, right ?
  9. I changed from this code: if mr1$ = 2, to this code: if mr1$ = 2 & mr1_flg <> 2, In the phsm1_on section. I have a hard time understanding posts but I had the same trouble with MPMaster and this fix works wonderfully. My MP Master has been running G05.1 without any errors for a long time. Let me know if you need to see any more of the post. I am 99%sure I didn't comment out any lines in the post as was discussed further up in this thread. Hope this helps ! P.S. You can not turn this on only at the beginning of the program because the AICC can't be active during toolchange.
  10. I'm sure your dealer would tell you this anyway but you'll need a new HASP key because the older ones are incapable of running X or later...
  11. Every PC in our shop has been running X4-MU1 (beta) for months. I very much prefer X4-MU1 over X4. Save yourself some aggravation... 1. Make a backup copy of your entire X4 folder. 2. Uninstall every older MC version including X4 3. Clean the registry 4. Install X4 & X4MU1 only 5. Don't Migrate anything !
  12. I got sick of playing around with it. Complete uninstall/reinstall just straightened out this box as well.
  13. I had one computer here that during the beta cycle was displaying all in black. It has a Geforce 9800 card and latest drivers. I solved the problem by completely uninstalling all X3 and X4 versions, cleaning up the registry (basically deleting everything that said CNC Software), reinstalling X4, and finally X4-MU1 My computer never had the all black issue but verify is way too dark as I described above. This box has a Nvidia Geforce GTX 295 (latest drivers). I know it's not the card though because X3 & X4 looked fine. The issue started with X4-MU1.
  14. Got it here as well on XP (32 bit) and Vista (64 bit). It appears that the "light" is coming from the wrong angle... I can improve things slightly by verifying sort-of upside down.
  15. +1 I'd pull the trigger as soon as X4MU1 is available. I've been running X4MU1 (beta) daily for a long time and it's doing everything I need it to.
  16. DO NOT scale an electrode model. Things change that ought not to be changed. Picture if you have a "boss" feature on the electrode... Scaling will cause the position of the boss to be incorrect. Lying about the cutter diameter (i.e. "scaling the tool") can be used but some features end up less than perfect. (usually where a small radius blends with a face.) The most accurate way to do it is with negative stock to leave in MC toolpaths followed by spherical orbits at the EDM. I almost never modify the actual geometry unless it is so simple that I can move a couple faces along the X-Y plane then machine "to size" and burn with 2-D orbit. The process of thickening up your electrodes will produce accurate results but holy crap that has to take some time ! In the past few years I used that strategy only one time IIRC. If you continue to work this way I think you could benefit from some type of parametric design software (i.e. Solidworks, Topsolid, etc.) to go along with MC. Is there a reason that you don't want to just use "negative stock to leave" ? Edit: Just re-read your post... When you say that method doesn't work so well what do you mean ? Done correctly, negative stock to leave can give extremely accurate results.
  17. Rickster, I've noticed Newegg has a special price on the EVGA GTX260 $199 - 30 mail-in rebate + free shipping = sweet deal. Not sure if Canada is included in that shipping deal but it seems like a pretty good buy. The deal ends today. New Egg GTX260
  18. I do have 800W PS but maybe it needs more. Interesting...
  19. Yep. Mine too but I have never heard a noise like this from any other computer so I was taking it as an indicator of the power this card has...
  20. GTX295 is playing nice with MC under Vista 64 bit. I can actually hear the video card making high pitch squeaking noises when I run verify.
  21. quote: My autosave is now set for 5min. That could be part of the problem too. Autosave is a problem looking for a place to happen. You ought to try the "backup files" feature instead.
  22. quote: How about tossing an undo button into the trim function bar. Then when something goes wrong, you won't have to back out of the function in order to undo. While you are at it put the undo button into ALL of the relevant toolbars. +1 Some of the software I use has undo available for pretty much everything. It's extremely handy. I would love to have CNC Software expand the function of undo so we don't have to back out of a ribbon bar to use it.
  23. A couple simple questions... Does the CD drive in the new PC work with any CDs ? Maybe the new PC has a bad drive or disconnected cable... Have you tried your old MC disk in a different PC with a known good CD drive ? I've had issues with bad drives at work and sometimes had to install MC and other programs through the network. It takes longer but it works.
  24. I would highly recommend using "backup files" instead of "auto-save". The "backup files" feature can save incremental backups of a file every time you save it and keeps them in the location of your choosing. Using auto-save would leave you vulnerable to the exact same problems if a file is ever corrupted.
