in 3d mode the z level will snap to anything in your model (or your screen ) that lies in your "auto snap hitbox"
2d locks it to whatever Z value is in your preset.
nothing new, this has been the same for a loong time.
if its broke,
under "options" set the keyboard shortcuts to F8 and Alt-F8 for the gnomons.
Alt-F8 default is "Config" but you can get that thru the backstage menu.
This made me chuckle. back in the early 80's a co-worker set up a cam type spring arm to hit cycle start from inside the machine. touching with the tool would spring load a lever to cam the mechanism outside to cycle start, if the tool wasn't there couldn't tap the arm to cycle the button. "broken tool detection" lol yeah if i had a pic it would have been a polaroid.
Just got around to installing 2018 side by side with 2017, copied , backed up and Updated all the posts to 2018. (keeping the 2017 untouched)
When I open some 2017 files with 2018 it immediately wants to update the Control def. it asks this twice.
It also locks up when you attempt to manually change to a 2018 post, (after the 2 prompts)
No I do not want to update the 2017 because we are still using it atm,
Not all the posts do this. And after opening we can change to a 2018 post with no problems. Anyone else get this?
I use Cobalt end mills (razor sharp & ease of regrinding), slow speeds to keep the dust down. no coolant, although you could use distilled water but not if you want to hold any close tolerance (due to absorption). we use a light air blow into a vac.
If possible try and keep the cut / chip direction always spinning into the part as it would chip if you pull a chip off the edges.
Is there any other way to pull geometry from old nc code?
RPOST fell off of mastercam many many moons ago.
It was a great tool to view / claim geometry from old tested programs.
