  1. When we inquired about Haas and asked the local dealer (haas and makino dealer) about glass scales on them, we were told that if we really needed a glass scales to just get a makino. Like Bob said, "lipstick on a pig" LOL :-) Having said that, out matsuura 5axis has glass scales standard
  2. Looking at a new Dell 5810 Precision desktop XEON E5-1630 v3 (4C, 3.7 GHz, Turbo HT, 10M, 140W) Quatro M5000 32GB (8x4GB) 2133MHz DDR4 RDIMM ECC 512GB SS drive $4664 Heavy surfacing and 5axis machining. I've been out of the loop with hardware a bit too long....so I'm rusty (read clueless) ...Are those good specs as of today? Any suggestions? TIA!
  3. Isn't that two different ways? But, whatever works. As long as you are comfortable, then stick with it.
  4. So you program parts 2 different ways? That's asking for trouble imnsho ouch
  5. Some conflicting statements in posts above. Just because everything is programmed from c/r doesn't mean you have to use only one offset. By default I add separate offsets for every rotation. My g10 lines are always set to all zeroes to begin with. I'm flexible. Always center of rotations.
  6. I'm with Mike on this one...don't even dare put an endmill on this one...ouch edm only imo
  7. In a 125mm lang vise, I hold 13x8x8 parts. No problem Just got to mill a little step in them to grab them
  8. Have you looked into lang system?...no need for external plumbing as it's all mechanical.
  9. The same here for HPI. Running up to 20k rpm now. I'm not discounting any of the other holders here. Just stating that I've experienced a very good service and support from HPI. <cheers>
  10. There's been a lot of traffic on the subject of holders lately so I thought I'd chime in with a good word for HPI Pioneer. We've been ordering a lot of them lately and the technical support and updates to their .dwg files have been outstanding. Their drawings are spot on, a lot more accurate than commands. http://www.gohpi.com/download/drawings If the drawing is not there, Lee from HPI will update it by the time I receive it. Outstanding service. <[email protected]> <cheers>
  11. +1 to logitech my fav is m705 on the right and space pilot on the left programming 10 hrs/day
  12. Nope, MC does what you tell it to do. Restmill is pretty darn good, never gauges the part...or maybe i am just lucky
  13. Full version about $30k... You can get limited for one machine only. You can setup your own machine using the library machines,or have them do it at a cost of $1k per axis
  14. Vericut makes Mastercam's Verify look pretty slow...and you can actually measure "scallops" that are left after surfacing... But that's another ball game
  15. I've seen similar things happening when using Mori's user area memory but reset always cleared it. Never a problem when using their data server though. I have a feeling that someone "fat fingered" something in there
  16. Peel mill, 1.25 deep, .02-.03radial and dry. HMC, so chip evacuation was great. Worked a lot better than feed mill.
  17. Use flowline. Easy and fast. Can't freaking upload here....argh...
  18. 51023HT is $46.18 51023 HI TORQUE HI STRENGTH is $58.18 Ouch! Darn it...I forgot, James recommended JM as well
  19. cicni, what pull studs did you pick? I'm between command and pioneer/hpi tia
  20. Thanks! I'll be playing with the exact machine you have very soon...
