  1. can also get to it quicker from autocursor toolbar
  2. As a snowmobiler I love fuel injection, carbs suck on those machines in my opinion, the machine adjusts to the weather automatically and it makes a dig difference when going from warmer weather to super freezing. With a carbureted snowmobile we would get up to the UP and our sleds wouldn't start, have to pull them over for 20 minutes to get them to want to do anything over the freezing night, once i upgraded to a fuel injected snowmobile all those problems went away and the computer controls the engines choke, etc. and it starts right up wherever i am. It may have been simpler back then but that doesn't mean it was better in my opinion and you can keep your carbonators!
  3. you could try a 3d blend toolpath, that may do a fine job
  4. You just enter the maximum you want it to decrease or increase, so you dont need to worry about the % if you use the inch value to the right of the % field. Like if im running at 10ipm and i don't want it going any slower than 5ipm in corners than my min feed would be 5ipm, the software will use an industry standard formula to adjust the feed while never leaving your min/max feed rate range applied on that page. so you can use whatever % you want but the way i wrap my head around those fields is what is the slowest and fastest i ever want the tool to go, its going to use an formula no matter what, your just setting the slowest and fastest its able to go when making feed rate adjustments. i hope that makes sense
  5. here is one of the best options currently, not available in all toolpaths
  6. that does look like it could be graphics and not the model. Does your pc have a dedicated graphics card and have you set the graphics card application to prefer the high performance graphics card for mastercam? that is an important thing for mastercam and mastercam hle, if you do not have a dedicated graphics card you could try disabling hardware acceleration but I only would suggest that if you do not have a dedicated graphcis card. If it is a stl or a really "edgy" solid you could turn off outline shaded and just make the model shaded, the image below shows how to change to a shaded model instead of outline shaded, outline shaded darkens each edge of a solid, i typically prefer it on unless i have a STL on screen or something with a million edges
  7. If its really complex and if simplify doesn't work here is a cool trick that always will work. 1. Create a contour toolpath, then window chain all the geometry on screen (after window chaining an approx start point must be selected on the screen, this should chain all geo in the window) 2. in the toolpath paramaters, select any tool, set the cutter comp to OFF (found on cut parameters page), then turn off all other pages like the multipass page, depth cuts, leadin/out, etc. and also set the depth to the appropriate depth or 0 incremental. 3. Turn on the arc filter page of the toolpath, set it to create arcs in XY plane, set desired tolerance (these tolerances will effect how many arcs and lines the toolpath produces and their accuracy compared to the original spline geo) 4. Backplot the entire toolpath (or just drag the backplot slider bar to the end) and in the backplot window choose the button that is called "Save Backplot Geometry to Level", a window will appear asking you which level to save the toolpath geometry to. (NOTE: Turn off rapids in backplot otherwise you will need to delete those backplot lines from your saved toolpath geo later) This works perfectly every time because mastercams contour toolpath must create arcs and lines, It can not produce spline geometry. I hope this explanation makes sense.
  8. if your posts were stored in standard directories (AKA the mastercam shared folder) then migration wizard will do a great job, a basic migration is simple and works great when standard locations are used. If your posts are on a server its a good idea to involve your reseller in the process since they may need to re-link the posts to a new location unless you know how to do that
  9. if its a hasp (typically purple in color) then it would require a .hcode file to perform the hasp update, and you would need to use the Haspx.exe utility if its a network hasp (typically red in color) then it would use a .Nhcode file along with the Nhaspx.exe utility.
  10. Yea I understand, a few years ago I watched my parents get screwed really bad by an insurance company that they have been paying into for like 30 years and the things they did to screw my parents over was insane just so to get out of paying so I have lost all confidence in insurance co's
  11. insurance companies are horrible to their customers and screw them over in any way they can, so I think we all should try to get as much as we can from them because they will Nickle and dime you on every and any claim, if there is a loophole they can use to get out of paying out a claim they will use it no matter how much they like you or how great of a customer you have been. So i feel the same as tyler here, screw insurance co's
  12. I am not sure how you would be able to have a tool automatically assigned to an operation, or if there is a way to do that I do not know how but as far as I am aware of there is not a way to have a tool automatically assigned to an operation. Or in your case it would be a Tool Assembly since you are looking for the holder to come in as well at the start of the operation. Importing the toolpath would be the easiest choice, and you could make that operation file the default operation file to import from. here is a video on importing toolptaths into mastercam
  13. paulfell you should check out this youtube channel when you get a chance if you are new to mastercam multi-axis, https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCwYPN_sM3u-_D8bUfUD_pXA/videos, i just recently stumbled across this persons youtube channel via this forum and am pretty impressed with this persons knowledge and he seems like he teaches mastercam multi-axis at a high skill level. so if your still a bit new to multi-axis, I expect you will benefit from some of his tutorial videos. In my opinion his YT channel is a great place to start learning multi-axis at no cost.
  14. File --> merge the tooling ball solid model into your fixture file, then use Model Prep --> Align to face to align a face of the tooling ball to a face of the fixture. Then from there you can use transform --> Dynamic to move the solid into position.
  15. for anyone that might just be getting involved in this topic you should be aware that Mastercam 2021 now fully supports custom thread toolpaths and no special customization is needed like what was done when this post was originally started. see details here https://whatsnew.mastercam.com/en-us/Content/Turning/Custom_Thread.htm
  16. Did you find it or no? It is in the configuration. there is a ton that you can control in there but here are some bullet pointers on which pages you may want to first visit to find settings Cad page = set default line width, line style attributes Colors page = a vast majority of colors that mastercam uses can be adjusted here, Wireframe Geometry is the one to adjust for your default wireframe color Files page = where you can alter file paths, i typically only change the Backup Files directory, then on the page below Files (click the+ next to files) you can then turn on the backup options, this is a useful feature that makes backups of your files into a separate location upon each save. I highly suggest it, its nice having backups of your work throughout the day. Start/exit page = Typically i ust change my editor here because i like Cimco/Cimco edit Toolpaths page = typically i just crank the memory buffering to 85% and then Uncheck Lock Feed rates since i dont like the feedrate lock turned on. i hope that helps! Let us know if you still cant find something
  17. in the toolpath manager do you have the "only show associated geometry" button selected? if you are not sure what i am referring to see if ALT+E (hide/unhide) gets the geometry to return, if alt+e gets it back then i would certainly guess that your only show associative geometry button is active in the toolpath manager. That button auto hides geo that is not associated to the selected operation.
  18. I thought I would share some info on how to create a Custom Shortcut to launch a specific user configuration. I don't think its common knowledge that this can be done so I figured I would share this with the community in case it may help someone. this is helpful for when multiple users use the same pc and want to use different configurations and settings. Instructions are all images below, if these instructions fail to work in the future i attached a word doc with these images Custom shortcuts to launch specific user configurations.docx
  19. under file --> configuration --> start/exit page you can change the editor that the nc file gets posted to if that is what you are asking. just go to the start/exit page in the config and where there is editor you can choose other and select any app from its install directory.
  20. You know you guys are doing this the hard way... https://www.mastercam.com/solutions/productivity/ https://www.mastercam.dk/probing/product/
  21. to add to this topic about look ahead with macros check this vid out, great info
  22. Here are two methods i came up with, however i dont know if either gives you the exact shape your after but these solid tools i show may help you out a bit with some options that you have. method 1. extrude and keep common areas with boolean method 2. sweep and use the twist setting on the advanced tab video https://fastechincorporated-my.sharepoint.com/:v:/g/personal/support_fastechinc_net/ETVmzjLDEA5FjHM4clNJcLUBhKPr_KNOtwjICVGI1elfRQ?e=69qYBk
  23. yea a blueprint or a photo of what this needs to look like would be helpful, by looking at your igs file i cant make heads or tails of what i am looking at.
