  1. its still a pretty powerful tool and people can still use the internal tool manager if they don't like it, it actually worked perfect for what this original poster was trying to accomplish and look at all of the other common parameters you can edit on milling tools with this, turn on all coolant, etc. I think you guys are ripping on this external tool manager more than it deserves because its actually pretty powerful and I was able to accomplish what the original poster was trying to do without even having my license plugged in. I think it was a great addition to the software, maybe if they would have added an external lathe tool manager it would have been cool but its still a great milling tool manager and can do a lot of powerful things for editing common parameters. Also since it doesn't require a license you can setup an entire library of tools for a job from another part of the shop or from home, etc. all without taking a license which is pretty cool. With a lot more work it could have been a really great tool but its still a pretty good tool for what it is.
  2. You can do this in the External Tool manager. 1. Open external tool manager, start menu --> mastercam Tool manager and open your library 2. Double click Cutting tools on the left side 3. CTRL+A to select ALL tools in the library 4. Click tool number in the bottom right, change to tool number 0 then hit enter 5. wait 5-15 minutes (at least that is how long it took my computer to complete the renumbering of all 446 in the library i was testing this on - tool manager goes not responding but eventually did respond and completed the task) i believe other tool settings can be also altered using this strategy and sorry lathe users but the external tool manager is only for milling tools
  3. $SDVKY is just the ADR version, " American Depositary Receipt (ADR) An ADR (American Depositary Receipt) is a receipt for shares of foreign-based companies that entitles the receipt holder to all dividends and capital gains. ADRs allow Americans to buy shares of foreign-based corporations' securities on American exchanges instead of having to go to overseas exchanges. " https://www.investopedia.com/terms/a/adr.asp
  4. If anyone's curious sandvik trades under the following tickers $SDVKY and $SDVKF. I should have some shares when my order executers tomorrow. I dont normally buy OTC's but if they are acquiring CNC software im interested.
  5. im pretty positive that both Inhouse solutions post team https://www.emastercam.com/post-request/ as well as Postabilities post team https://postability.com/ can both alter a post to accomplish that, so if your looking to have this implemented I would suggest reaching out to them or go through your reseller directly and they can likely make it happen for a small fee. i would just describe to them that your looking to have a drill cycle added that can be used to output another toolpath as a subprogram using the drill point positions as the sub program location or details similar to that. I think both inhouse and Postability offer great posts, support and their pricing is reasonable and competitive.
  6. and peel mill supports axis substitution and that feature would be on a constant dia so peel mill utilizing axis substitution should work great.
  7. i got an old copy here https://fastechincorporated-my.sharepoint.com/:x:/g/personal/support_fastechinc_net/EQwI1ZclyWxDntF0fW5_bP0BHapI3NL2UjMcCWAMLNpOWg?e=u7cdq8
  8. whatcha lookin for specifically on there? maybe someone will have it
  9. Mill turn would give you simulation and easier manipulation of wait codes, it also makes all the 2d/3d toolpaths easier to setup since you do not have to deal with planes as much in MT and you have a setup page in each toolpath where you choose orientation of the tool and cut type (like C-axis face milling, or Y-axis cross milling, etc.) so it makes it much easier to program each and every part. But if you already have a working post processor for the machine and already know how to setup planes for 2d and 3d operations and are making good parts with your current post then adding multi-axis might be a better choice if you need those types of toolpaths and simultaneous machining ops for your parts. if you don't already have a working post and if you are not already used to the setup of planes for a MT machine in a lathe environment then MT may be the best choice since you will be able to create the operations more easily as far as planes are concerned and easier to see what's going to happen with things like adding wait codes, turret parks, etc. more easily and then being able to fully simulate. those are my opinions, i hope this helps maybe see if your reseller is able to let you evaluate the two products together if your really not sure and want to be certain on what to move forward with

    Need help

100% agree, personally I don't even download or look over files unless people take the time to describe what they are having trouble with. nothing against the original poster here but if someone cant take the time to provide enough details to ask a proper question then im not going to take any of my own time to make assumptions on what they want. No reason why people need to be so vague all the time on everything, i see it all too often. The more details you provide on forums like these the more answers you get to your problems and also the more specific detailed info you will get, post a vague question normally you get a vague answer if your lucky enough to get an answer at all. I mention this in the nicest way, again just letting you know my thoughts on when it comes to helping people on public forums.
  11. you could try checking the Round Corners check box on the cut pattern page, then an additional page will appear underneath cut pattern called Round Corners, in that location enter a radii that is slightly larger than your tools radii.
  12. did you reach out to the manufacturer? that would have been my very first place to look, looks like they have a contact us page https://www.chickworkholding.com/4dcgi/public/support/contact.shtml?CTUS=1?PATH=6000023&&_RND=24509_
  13. on the model prep tab choose Split Solid face, then window select all that wireframe geo. then just use model prep push pull to pull the face down. also if that fails for any reason its easy enough to extrude that shape straight, like project it flat then do a straight extrude and make sure extrude is set to Create Body, then Trim that solid "slug" that you just made to the curvature you want the pocket to be, so just so a solid extrude on a circle, then just Boolean remove away the slug from the main body. the middle Solid in the example shows the completed part and the far right solid is the slug i made to make it work, the far left example has no history so you cant see much on the first solid but it was done completely with model prep tools example.emcam or just check out the pics below and you wont even need to look at that part file, as you can see if you can create that simple slug then you can create that cavity using Boolean. Note: the solid was Translated outwards for the images, but in reality it was created in position, the large circle drawn concentric also, extrude the slug with a taper angle if you would like tapered walls in the pocket, or may need to use the draft face function and draft specific faces, but either way its much easier to think of it in reverse like this since we can remove solids from each other.
  14. here's an old video showing the correct solutions they listed above along with configuration settings to prevent it from happening in the futrue https://www.dropbox.com/s/03xix9a93sbwlyl/nc file names.mp4?dl=0
  15. Hi Everyone, I wanted to start a topic for anybody that is running a macbook or mac pc with some tips and tricks related specifically to us Mac users. Disclaimer: Before we begin, I should mention that Mac's are an unsupported system for Mastercam at this time and if you go this route and purchase a Mac you could be on your own with troubleshooting problems and/or may run into issues that others do not. I have had no trouble with my mac and absolutely love this system but I am not necessarily recommending macs to anyone as they are unsupported by mastercam technically and you never know what a future mac update, etc. could have an effect on so be aware if you go this route and use a mac for mastercam you will be running an unsupported system. If your not a very technical person, this may not be for you, but in my experience nothing has been difficult or troublesome yet. Now that we have that out of the way lets start, I am going to share some things that i found so far that make life easier and if others have helpful mac specific info to share please add a reply and share the knowledge. first thing I found so far is this macbook has an incredible resolution (looks incredible), but subsequently I found that when I worked from home with no monitors connected my mastercam toolpath manager, planes manager, etc. Text all went really small, I would then change the font size in the ops manager which fixed it but then as soon as I got back to work and plugged in my ultrawide monitor or any monitor the txt was then way to large and it was a constant battle adjusting it back and forth. The solution I found was to drop the resolution from the native 3072x1920 down to 2560x1600, it still looks great and the problem is gone. so for anyone plugging their mac into and out of different resolution monitors the incredible resolution of the mac may need to be bumped down a smidge. found a better solution shown below, not sure why I didn't try that in the first place as I have read this knowledge base article many times but below did fix the small text issue without me needing to reduce screen resolution second thing i found was I really miss a delete key, running bootcamp turns your delete key on the mac into backspace because the mac keyboard does not have a backspace so basically bootcamp turns the delete key into a backspace and if you ever need to delete anything you use the button and also hold down an additional key on the keyboard which is the FN key, being a longtime windows user I use delete extremely often and it is super annoying to have to hold down the FN key on the opposite side of the keyboard to delete files, folders, mastercam entities, toolpaths, etc. so what i found to fix this is a software called KeyTweak https://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/keytweak/ which allows you to change any keyboard key into another function, the button directly below the backspace (or delete key) on this mac is a button I never use so I altered that button to function as delete, so now my delete button is directly below my backspace button and was easy to get used to and is a single key instead of having to hold the FN all the time. Others may not mind holding fn or may need to use that specific button that i altered so this may not be for everyone but it certainly helped me with my workflow and i love having an actual delete again, third thing is in your bootcamp control panel you can change all the top buttons from special feature buttons to F1, F2, F3 function type buttons, I personally like them to be F1-F12 like a normal windows pc keyboard has and you can still alter the function of those keys with FN any time. Also the mac must be one with an intel processor (typically found only in higher end models), the M1 chips would not work for mastercam and you would use bootcamp with a windows operating system to run the software on a mac since mastercam does not support the apple operating system. thats all the info i can think of sharing at this time, but since there is not many mac topics i wanted to get one started but hopefully other mac users can chime in with any tips or tricks they have found that are specific to mac's to share with the community
  16. If you are using a software type license, deactivate the license prior to doing the windows 10 upgrade, not sure if you really have to do that for certain but i suggest it to be safe, once the upgrade to win 10 is complete then re-activate the license. If its a usb drive, just remove the usb then plug it back in after the update.
  17. im going to re-run it real quick cuz i was a bit surprised as well from those results with how fast this feels using it edit: second test gave me a better time without camtasia running with the macbook pro, this time it appears to be 4:50 for total regen time
  18. yea its not super fast for this benchmark, not sure why cuz I do find this thing really fast for most calculations and i feel like i beat my nice desktop with some other calculations recently, may just be related to the types of paths or something, but yea not super impressive compared to a lot of others but really impressive for the laptops weight. this thing feels like so light weight, feels like im working on a ipad with a keyboard basically. half the time i use it like a desktop and plug a nice keyboard and screens into it, the other half the time when im doing training and stuff i use it just as a laptop but its the lightest computer i have ever owned and runs my mastercam, solidworks, spaceclaim etc really nicely in my opinion, I've never been a mac fanboy but after this system im a believer in mac products.
  19. Finally have some MAC BOOK specs to add here. the image below shows the 2021 macbook specs, and if anyone is a computer nerd that likes to look at the task manager specs while its processing I hit the record on camtasia so there is a video below as well, not much info on these macs with mastercam out there but personally I love this thing, super light and powerful in my opinion, im positive there are desktops out there that will blow this thing out of the water but I really like this thing. laptop specs; Results; test #1 with camtasia running Test #2, no camtasia or web pages open video; (disclaimer, the video super boring for most people, nothing interesting happens and is just the task manager mostly and waiting on toolpaths to process) https://fastechincorporated-my.sharepoint.com/:v:/g/personal/joshc_fastechinc_net/Eclo8iubbH1CqTx5QhMP9YoBXLsfBN8FHni8bs0mlmPMCQ?e=MBXQvg also im running bootcamp for the windows 10 operating system also I did this in mastercam 2022 but if anyone is super curious about it I am willing to run it again in another version of mastercam. another note: not all macbooks can run mastercam, you need the higher end models with the intel chips, as far as I know the M1 chips can not run mastercam
  20. I just bought one for my home computer for gaming and absolutely love it. I am buying one for work really soon because that stream deck is awesome and worth every penny in my opinion. I think if you buy one you will not be dissapointed, you can do a ton of stuff with it, its easy to use and works awesome. I just do basic stuff with mine like internet browsers and stuff but you can do some really cools stuff with it and the app it comes with is super simple to use. and you can setup multiple profiles so it as you use other applicaitons it you can have different buttons for each and every program you use. like a profile for internet or chrome, a profile for solidworks, a profile for mastercam, a profile for excel or word, etc. again i think they are worth every penny and are not just for streamers even though that is the biggest market for them i also was looking at these too, but i am really happy i went with the stream deck because its nice to be able to customize each and every button and each button is on an lcd screen https://www.razer.com/shop/keyboards/gaming-keypads
  21. sigurd if you only have a mill2d license and not mill3d then i would take an approach like Mike shows here in his caminstructor blog video. Caminstructor makes excellent training videos and i highly recommend them to new users and their blog vids are all free and their paid courses are reasonably priced and have great content. this approach he shows would probably work well on that part. https://blog.caminstructor.com/cutting-3d-forms-with-2d-toolpaths
  22. actually you can open a Industrial file in the HLE, just not the other way around, so if he provides a HLE file us with industrial licenses wont be able to open it. But if someone saves him an any industrial file the HLE can still open it. I think that is the case so people using the HLE for learning purposes can still review real part files, but they can not make real files that will generate code or can be used for manufacturing.
