  1. after about 40IPM it will not follow a surface, you will see it if you use multiple ball endmills. we did a lot of testing with our haas tech and ended up trading a SS in for a moldmaker
  2. not a good machine for 3D surfacing with the high pitch screw
  3. is moving an option? trade it in
  4. mostly print solids or have what i want printed on levels
  5. JP, the problem is your programming for a Haas. Karma
  6. works better, you see a preview of the file when you hover
  7. we had a problem with molds made from QC7 aluminum, corrosion was like a bacteria infection that followed the grain of the material eating it away, we ended up switching to another material
  8. i would do a flowline for the ramp and either use the vertical for a check surface or trim the ramp surface back half the cutter. to start how you want you need to mess with angle not just start point
  9. how you can spend 1/2 million$$ on a machine and not spend 4-5 thou$ on a post baffles my mind
  10. anyone ever cut this crosslinked PTFE i was asked how it machines, speeds and feeds. never heard of it before.
  11. the SS has a coarse ball screw and will overshoot when you have high feedrates. we turned one in for a moldmaker for doing 3D cavity work
  12. do the next set up sheet on pink paper and staple it to their paycheck
  13. just don't ask JP any HAAS related questions!
  14. i have a ton of V7 files that i need every now and then for repair work, so i have an old computer with V7 and V9, then i can bring the V9 into X5 and X5 to 2017
  15. only if you have old files that 2018 will not open, i have X5 2017 and 2018
  16. anyone who programs stays in caps all the time, don't know why people here think its yelling. don't know how many times i type some response and then notice its caps and just says forget it i'm not typing that again!

  18. copied from another forum Depends on if you have spindle orientation, which is an option. If you're not sure, type M19 P2. in MDI and see what happens. If you have a Renishaw probe, you will have spindle orient for sure. Also, the shot pin thing, I believe, is year dependent. My '07 doesn't have a pin at all, it just uses the motor / encoder to keep the spindle at the commanded position. If you're looking for a super accurate toolpath, it may not do it because as it's holding position, it kind of vibrates like the resolution on the spindle encoder is real coarse. also From: JoeDrifton Precision Machining in Pennsylvania:We were having trouble indicating the keyway broach square in our Haas Minimill. Here’s the solution:When orientating the spindle to square up the broach we use an M19 code. We needed to move the position to indicate the broach square. When you use a whole degree you can do M19 PXXX when you need to go less than a whole degree you use an R example M19 R45.05 If you don’t use the R code the spindle will quiver and make indicating difficult. When we got this figured out we had very good success.
  19. the older ones i believe only take 8 characters, try starting with "1" or an "A"
  20. i used to use them all the time, now we have wireless. i would only put the file needed on it though and would re-format after. on some haas if they don't press origin before removing and you replace the file on the thumbdrive when it is put back in the same machine it will remember the old program, had it bite me in the a$$ before.
  21. check community colleges , my co-worker teaches at QVCC in Ct at night. i would take someone who wants to learn and has a work ethic over someone who thinks he knows it all and the job owes him.
