  1. A LOT of people love that boat in this industry. Change aversion is rampant I dare say. :cough: all you people still on V9 and X9 I'm eyeballing you :cough: I get that change for the sake of change is worthless. However change for the sake of improvement or at bare minimum as a step to improvement is most definitely worthwhile. JM2CFWIW YMMV
  2. FWIW, the last MX-520 I did a ballbar test on I ran it at 5000mm/min and it was round within 5-6µ.
  3. On your Matsuura you want to ALWAYS use the High Speed Modes. Make sure to use the correct High Speed Mode for the type of machining. 2D = G131P... 3D = G131M... Rotary =G131 F... Canned Cycles = G131 D1 In each mode (other than drilling) there are 3 settings. 1=Roughing/General machining 2=Semi-Finish/Finish 3=Fine Finish. Or 1=Speed Preference to 3= Accuracy Preference. You should be able to hold single digit micron accuracy on a 2D profile using G131P3 with arcs (provided the CAD is good) or line segments. Are you using CAMplete?
  4. Surprised your work isn't on 10 especially since 7 is a dead O/S walking. No more security patches are being created IIRC.
  5. Windows 7 is nearly a relic of a product now. I get it though, I like it better than 10. I just have to run 10 because of some BlueTooth hardware and some software I run. I always turned off all the eye candy :bs: like aero and whatnot though.
  6. Thanks again. Just loaded it into 2021. Seems to work in the release version so far. I have it set to startup in my system configuration so I never need to even think about it.
  7. I usually will create the geometry I need to at the depths. Use multiple passes and do it that way. 0 incremental on depth and 0 incremental on top of stock. Not particularly clean, but effective nevertheless.
  8. Downloaded and installled without an issue. I took a chance and decided to use the Migration Wizard on this release. This was the 1st time that I have used it and it did only as I expected and only as I wanted. Saved me a couple hours worth of work. I will typically create new OPS defaults and machine and control deinitions each version. I don;t have that many so it's no biggie. So far so good. I haven't tried any of the new features yet. Going to go through the What's New document this morning. JM2CFWIW YMMV
  9. To add to JP's comment, I'm one of those guys that has been using it pretty steady since 1992. I also have PowerMill, InventorHSM and Fusion360. Probably 80% of the time Mastercam is still my go-to CAM system, and probably 5% it's still my go-to CAD system. There are certain things Mastercam just excels at and that's the bottom line. There's a few High-End things it excels at too. For allmit's quirks, lack of eye-candy, and lack of flash, it still gets the job done after all these years. What does the future hold for the CAD/CAM industry? That is anybody's guess, but what I do know is the reality is that the the eye-candy, YouTube, and there's an app for that generation is in the driver's seat. They will be dictating how us Dinosaurs get our work done from here on out.
  10. Would not doubt it for one second. And just think, we're only 20-25 years away from all those Chinese anchor babies coming home to roost. I can't wait for all those little commies that will be big commies to come here and further destroy our country and way of life.
  11. ... and are buried in some unmarked, mass grave in the middle of nowhere.
  12. On the Renishaw side; point selection is critical. Try reversing your points. i.e. your 1st point now, make that the 2nd point, and your 2nd point now, make that your 1st point. I have the same issues on the FANUC. I'll get my points mixed up and instead of getting what I want, I get experience.
  13. Sorry. Wish I could help, I just don't speak Mazak at all. FANUC and some Siemens.
  14. It's proven EXTREMELY valuable to us being able to probe with G68.2 active when needing to make error corrections. We could do it without but... it would probably add an order or two magnitude of complexity to the process I'm guessing.
  15. Sometimes we gotta just detach from the problem to see a solution. Personally I suffer from failure to do this too often. But I am getting better.
  16. 100% fact the control implementation is the MTB's responsibility. Control manufacturers have suggestions, but ultimately, it's up to the MTB to option, implement and execute the control and all it's happenings. Some builders are disciplined with implementation, IOW, building backward compatability in to the capability matrix, and others... not so much. Not gonna name names I'll leave that to the end users.
  17. Well... at least he's got some maximum material condition to work with. @BBprecise, are you probing with G68.2 active?
  18. FANUC Control, Inspection Plus... After a probing Cycle #140 = X Error #141 = Y Error #!42 = Z Error #143 = Size Error #144 = Angle Error (most of the time) #145 = True Postion Error
  19. I smell the one who's name shall not be named. Perhaps she has a sister?
  20. Knowledge and experience dissemination is the sole prerogative of the owner of said knowledge and experience. Completely and totally at the individual's sole discretion. You are DEFINITELY new around here. Everyone in here is free to criticize their respective governments. We are even free to criticize Mastercam software here. It's all in the presentation of said criticism. Be productive with your criticism and pretty much anything goes. I think we've all gone on a rant on the new UI but couched it with improvement suggestions.
  21. Yeah... that's a good way to put it. Was here since the beginning. Got a 1 day ban and decided to turn it into a 2 year hiatus give or take.
