  1. You can always trim surfaces to surfaces or to curves as well if that's an concern, if you just need to modify one or two faces to reflect the hole..
  2. Hey Ron, I'm sending you an email about this.. Keep your eye out
  3. Hacsta - That's definitely an annoyance of mine, too.. You'll be happy to know it's being cleaned up in X8. Cheers,
  4. Mark - The issue is that your shape in Illustrator is filled in... Convert it to just an outline before you save it, and it should work fine.
  5. You could also use the Safety Zone built into the toolpath (under Linking)... See my picture for an example of Safety Zone in action on a simple part..
  6. I've had some great luck personally with the Iscar Solidshreds in stainless, but their normal "chatter free" cutters worked great in regular. I know Sandvik has an equivalent, but the shop I was helping out at was an Iscar place, so I haven't tried them, although I'd love to. Unfortunately, I haven't played too much with a lot of their insert stuff, except by proxy..
  7. Joeyls319 - What'd you get? The generic Fanuc post should work fine for that, although you will want to run through and make sure all of the m-codes you're using work the way you expect; They're really customizable on that control, so your dealer may have tweaked them to work a certain way..
  8. Sounds like you weren't using TCP (tool center-point control). That's a lesson we all have to learn at some point, unfortunately
  9. And for a little more clarification, they use what's called "bump maps" (or "bump mapping") to get the depth of their textures. The idea is you load a grey scale image, and the renderer says black is the lowest point, white is the highest point, and so it will render with artificial depth. Poser uses relatively low polygon count models, that are then "cleaned up" by rendering with anti-aliasing, texture mapping & bump maps. I don't think you'd like the results you'd get out of it if you tried to machine that model. http://en.wikipedia....ki/Bump_mapping for more detail.
  10. Tryin' to make it easier So CamMan won't have gouges... I realized I typo'd above.. I meant "can't handle large vectors." It's edited now.
  11. Glenn, that wouldn't be a swarf toolpath then, would it? You could use a morph or parallel toolpath for that..
  12. Johnaka - Those are great looking parts! I'm glad this is working out well for you! OneYankFan1 & Camman - It looks like the forum/internet speed to post ate the post I replied to you with, so I'll retype it (I think I hit "post" and then closed the lid on my laptop, it must not have sent).. Sorry about the delay, I thought I had replied. Either way: The only things you can control is your surface tolerance & maximum angle allowed per step. I think you already know this based on previous conversations, but the maximum step per angle can be a big one for machine smoothness, just like the surface tolerance is big for surface smoothness. Basically, what max angle step does is look at a vector (and it may be 20" long, who knows?) and then look at the angle step from the beginning to end of it. It'll then break it into whatever sized chunks you've specified. On multiaxis machines, I'm not in a habit of trying to minimize program size, as a lot of machines/controls with less than stellar accelleration & deceleration control can't handle multiaxis toolpaths with large vector size without gouges (or sometimes crashes!), but if you need to, then you want to look at those two settings. All who reported it - Just to let you guys know, it looks like the bug #D-09273 has been squashed, so you'll see it fixed in X8. Thanks for bringing it to my attention.
  13. Nice analysis Watcher! Great troubleshooting skills. I would start searching the registry for links to the other computer (i.e. Look for //compy2 or //192.168.1.102 or whatever your other computers' ip address is), and see if it's some saved favorite or application path looking for that every time you open it. Some of the registry cleaning programs may only find it as a problem if you're disconnected from the network. Good luck!
  14. Sorry, but I wouldn't look for it in either of those, MU1 is going to be enhancements & fixes that don't change the interface at all (so it doesn't affect our OEMs, Partners & translators) and the window is pretty much closed for X8 new features as we prepare to address beta & (eventually) open beta feedback. Hopefully not too long after that, though! We'll see how it slots in.
  15. Wow, that's a killer deal... You can easily grab an SSD for your primary drive, and another 8 Gb of Ram and still be WAY under budget...
  16. Mike - I think your reseller will be able to help you best, unless you want to talk about theory. What the control is looking for in a multiaxis drill move is HIGHLY subjective to not only the control, but also the parameters it's set up to.
  17. It's a bit unintuitive (because of the name), but you can find what you need under the Multi-cuts page. The page controls more than that, if you adjust the offset of the 1 slice, it'll still slide it down. See the pictures for an example.
  18. Another keyboard shortcut that might help is alt+space, then use the arrow-keys to get to move. Press Enter, and use the arrow keys to get the window on screen. It's a windows thing, for some reason the resolution changed, maybe a driver updated, or windows didn't detect the same monitor for a minute or whatever, but that's probably what caused it.
  19. CamMan - It doesn't have the filtering options of the old toolpaths, but I'd be happy to take a crack at your file and see if I can point you in the right direction.
  20. I know, it's horrible There will be an Mu2 coming to beta soon, but it's really only small changes based on customer feedback, not interface stuff. We're keeping it that way, so our international/translating & 3rd party (i.e.: verisurf) don't have to worry about it breaking anything. Mu1 had a bunch of new features which changed the interface & SDK, so it was difficult for the guys working behind the scenes to keep up, and we don't want to do that to them again X8 is not in the hands of the Beta guys yet. Since you're in the program, keep your eyes on the ol' inbox (or beta section of the forum, of course)... Ron - Glad to hear it Don't let Newbeeee say "I told ya so" too many times! Edit: removed a bit of redundancy and made it a bit clearer.
  21. Newbeeeeeeeeeee *gasp* eeeeee - I'm not sure if you reported this or not, and I'm sure how I overlooked the thread, but here's what you get if you open a file with viewsheets in X8 if you have that feature turned off. Hope this helps! Cheers,
  22. Thanks Camman1 & oneyankfan1! I know that we'll be sending out a new sample file that uses it with X8, but I'll try to get a sample file around and put it out there for you guys Most of the ones I tried it against I can't distribute, but I'll see if I can eek out some time to make some fresh ones. Cheers,
  23. Hey guys, Thanks for bringing this to my attention (and thanks to Matt for emailing QC to bring this thread & the problem to our attention on Friday afternoon). It's definitely a bug, and we've got it logged as bug #D-09273. The team will be looking at it shortly. Cheers,
  24. Thanks Jay! I didn't want to mess with his depth settings and such, I should have mentioned that
