  1. +1 To Scott, before you hit do it, check normal cycle and make sure the arrow is pointing the center of the radius you want and there's no reason you won't get it.HTH! Simon
  2. You can't just send a program in and hit cycle start because depending on the machine type and control, you'll need codes that your machine can read. Simon
  3. You mean a video of machine in action or a demo cd of Mastercam? Welcome to the forum! Simon
Simon
  5. Hi Lee, that's a known issue, I love to create with solids but when it comes to program, convert to surfaces and change color when needed and then:all color... With solids, it's ok only when you select the whole solid, but faces selection ain't that easy. I agree... Simon
  6. Nice work Rekd, without you here the forum wouldn't be the same (good way and bad way). You can't please everyone... Keep on posting! Simon teh one more to the week-end
  7. Hi Harold, 1st welcome to the forum, 2nd turn-off cap locks because it means you're yelling ay us and 3rd there's many way to get rid of this, you could create a surface with your curve and then surface next menu from surface and make a solid sheet out of it and then thicken it or do a sweep depending on the geometry, if you can upload the file it would help. Simon
  8. When you select not to show your e-mail means people won't know your address but will still be able to e-mail you, you need to select " No, hide my address and do not allow members to mail me " HTH! Simon
  9. Can you upload the file or e-mail it to me, I'll guide yo through. Welcome to the forum. Simon
  10. Hi Rick, sorry I'm a little late on this one but yes you can do it by playing with tabs by putting a ramp motion (in tabs settings) instead of vertical moves and you put a small angle like 5 deg. and it gives you the exact result you need. No I didn't think to this by my self, a customer asked me the same thing once and after playing with it, I founded that and it worked.HTH! Simon!
  11. Hey guys we (resellers) received something about it from cnc software, just contact your dealer and he'll send it to you.HTH! Simon
  12. Hi Anita, welcome to the forum, I love to nest the toolpaths especially with true shape because it considers the lead-in/out, but if you choose to nest the geometry only, sometimes with small parts you won't see if it gouges in the part beside because the only way to control is the part to part distance.HTH! Simon
  13. quote: Yes sir. but sense you have the pro it came with the software. I'm not sure about that look on the pamphlet it says optionnal on all router products.
  14. Good morning Paul, I would just take the outside geo (without the pockets and flats) and do a solid revolve and convert it to a STL file (in file converter STL write file) and then in verify configure in stock shape (top left) choose file and go get that stl and that's it. HTH! Simon
  15. Hi Rob in the case where you have a rectangular part, you could do it by playing with your XY clearance, I had a 10 x 6 rect. and used a 1.00 dia, tool and put my XY clear. at 2.25, stepover at 75% and it started in the center but I agree, it doesn't do it automaticaly. Simon!
  16. Have you tried follow boudary in the helix tab, just make sure to uncheck "on failure only" and it should be doing exactly what you want. HTH! Simon!
  17. Hi Jeff, welcome to the forum, what's the extension of Versacad files? Simon!
  18. Forgot, In Ottawa you ain't allowed to smoke even in bars, it's nice because in Montreal when I go in bars (not often) when I'm back home I need to take a shower before going to bed.
  19. quote: I used to work with a guy that used the cnc as his ashtray Me too + he was leaving his butches in, he was working on the night shift and man believe me it's bad in the morning to smell that **** . Here too no smoke in public areas and that's fine for me I'm a non-smoker.
  20. Hi Greg, Sorry for the delay, I started working on it on V9 and wanted to save it to V8 but couldn't save the toolpaths I had put on so redo it all. What I did is trim the orange surface and made 3 finish parallel but each of them have diff. depth limits. It's not the most efficient toolpath ever seen but in this case , I think it's appreciable. Have a look at it and let me know.HTH! TUBE-END-SIMON.mc8 Simon
  21. Yes, to everyone I know, it also will show you only few threads and some others will be missing. Welcome to the forum! Simon!
  22. Check your e-mail, I just hope you have V9, if not let me know. Simon!
  23. Sorry about the vertical walls( read too fast) you could also just finish the radius with a surface toolpath and finish the bottom with a pocket(2d) toolpath with creat curve all edges (of the flat surface). HTH ! What dia. is your cutter? Simon
  24. Maybe you could try finish scallop and select only the radius and the flat bottom (vertical walls are a pain sometimes) HTH! and Good week-End Simon
  25. We were using OSG ball mills for finishing 3D shapes with TIALN coating and man you never see the end but as others mentionned before when they were coming back from regrind (because we had some flats that needed regrind) it was like if they'd paint it. I saw some cheaps endmills (carbide with supposed TIALN) coating that wasn't changing nothing to life because they didn't have any anyway! All that was also in D2-A2 P-20.HTH! Simon
