  1. Analyze > Test surface Solid > Curvature Alternately, you can machine it with a tool and do an stl compare and see if you got it, and adjust tool size to find the rad.
  2. Remove the coolant icon in X6 ops manager. Removed in X7
  3. Arc filter, arc filter, arc filter. In my backplot I change the color of arcs to orange, lines to blue (default). Makes is easy to visually see that you've got arcs being output.
  4. Looks like it's not THIS next MU. Must be the Next Next MU. ....or the one after that. Viewsheets shall remain in the dumpster until.
  5. Those sfm those guys are running are pretty high, but everyone is about the same. Also 10% (.050) seems standard. Goldorak has a ton of experience with this I know. Check out his comments. IMHO you gotta use feed override to really tune it in. Don't forget to enter your results into the form (in my signature). Thanks fellas!
  6. What version, what os, what video card? Regardless, this will usually fix it. Right click on My Computer > Properties > Advanced System Settings > Advanced > Performance > Settings > Adjust for best performance.
  7. Every move in 5 axis toolpath is theoretically posting a new plane, (nci line type 11) therefore the axis will be unlocked, even if there really isn't a plane shift. Go 3 + 2 and you'll get clamp codes. Also arc G2/3 motion, which you won't get with 5x toolpaths.
  8. Actually that is one thing that drove me nuts in X6, was the tool will have broken through the channel in the center, but not at the edges, and still be making a full sweep pass. Therefore it would be cutting mostly air while all it needed was the corners.. Now in X7 when the center of the slot is clear, it just nibbles out the corners. Analyze it closely and when it's cutting and when it's not, and you'll see X7 is better. Unless I am misunderstanding the question. You may have some combination of stepover, rounding rad, slot width, and tool diameter that is giving you less than optimal results. I have noticed x7 filter makes several tangent arcs, when in x6 it seemed to make just one arc, which will = more code. Haven't looked deeper into it.
  9. Can you post a pic of the gouge on the part? Is it a little gouge or huge arc-drive-the-wrong-way gouge? What machine control?Sounds like a machine/post issue though. I've wrecked some parts with arcs going the wrong way. Do what Colin says above. Also allow 360 deg arcs. How big is the gouge? How big is the part? If the gouge is around .005, and your tolerance is set to that, then that's your cause. .005 may be perfectly fine if you've got that much tolerance, or on monster parts. But if not, that could be your cause. Another GREAT tool for checking code is the full on version of Cimco V6. It's very inexpensive and worth it's weight in gold. . ....Reseller for Wash?
  10. I organize and maintain it frequently. Submissions have been pretty slow lately. See my sig below for upload form, everyone!
  11. Coolant icon didn't work (at all) properly in x6 with new mmd/posts. Therefor it is removed. Apparently rather complicated to get it function properly. A semi-broken feature should never be in any software.
  12. Curious if it has Hi-Cut misc values in it. Sooo busy now can't even consider even looking at it yet.
  13. Yes that was my though, send cnc a link to this thread, as compared to having everyone submit an email.
  14. In View Manager, wouldn't it be great to select a bunch of views at once and change the offset? Also not get this error, (which happens when posting as well). The view manager needs some love.
  15. There is. Go through help in machine sim (the question mark). It is one of the most comprehensive help topics in mastercam.
  16. tool_info : 3 #Output tooltable information? #0 = Off - Do not output any tool comments or tooltable #1 = Tool comments only #2 = Tooltable in header - no tool comments at T/C #3 = Tooltable in header - with tool comments at T/C My tool table is not being output at each toolchange. Any ideas? #2 option is the only one working.
  17. FYI- In X6 the coolant icon was correct only if you were using legacy posts/mmd with "old coolant" style. flood/mist/thru. Otherwise using current mmds with modern coolant controls the icon would not display properly. It was too much to fix apparently, so they just dropped it. Better a function not there, than one there that only occasional worked.
  18. The best $ I've ever spent was on a Unilock chuck for a 4th axis faceplate. They have a model specifically for 4th axis. Hook up to a foot pedal control, and tombstone change times are seconds. http://www.bigkaiser.com/unilock.php
  19. Waterline for the walls, 3d hst horizontal finish will auto-get all the flats. Aside from a containment boundry you won't have to create any wire.
  20. Gosh the price has really gone up. I've use the Keller 315 with good success. Pretty nice, you set it on very low speed and let it run for a few days unattended. The filters do get clogged quickly with fines however. But then again that is the purpose of a filter. I'd recommend the course ones. Also you can clean them out pretty easily. I've also built alot of the shop vac contraptions and home-made filtration units. My time and mess isn't worth it anymore. But they are a good solution for whole-sale tank cleanouts.
  21. Step back here: are you just trying to use regular send>receive functions plugged in with an ethernet cable ports? Send/Receive regular is just rs-232, NOT using the ethernet port. If you want to use an ethernet cable as an rs-232 cable, you'll need some adaptors from predator or the like
  22. Hi Bob, A great local place is Mt Hood Fasteners. They stock a ton, great discounts at volume, and source anything unusual you need. It's right in my neighborhood. I could make a delivery to you, and see your new machines. They also ship.
  23. I can't recall is there's a parameter to compensate for taper?
