Mastercam X2

Mastercam X2 is now available on http://www.mastercam.com/Support/Downloads...X2/Default.aspx. The version available via the website is the product only; CDs are being shipped and should arrive soon. Please keep in mind that the .NET 2.0 Framework MUST be installed on your system for X2 to run.

So far so good.. only had to redo few things.. remap to the old cimco editor, remap a key function, and change the disable the splash screen. Oh yeah and delete all the extra machines it puts into the cnc_machines dirrectory.. this bloats my drop down menu of machines to choose from.. other than that seems ok so far..

Ok, before I upgrade, will my MR2 post, machine definitions, and control definitions work with X2?

They will need to be updated, that however will happen pretty much automatically.

 

Copy them into the correct directories for X2, ie, cnc_machines & /posts

It was ugly but it was a work in progress that came out very, very well.

Just had Mill 3 X2/Solids installed last Wed, can't wait to learn it!

When I start up I get a lot of errors. I think when it migrated settings it didn't like x+, or do I need to install X+???

If you did a side by side install with migrate, you'll have to install X+ into your X2 installataion. The migrate function does not

migrate third party chooks.

Just copy the X+ folder and the X+.ft file from MR2 in to X2 and create the toolbar if it isn't there. Works for me

I keep getting

Warning- error opening C:mcamx2configmcamx.config

 

so I can't read any settings

Move your config file out of the config folder and restart Mastercam.
