First let me say that I am a devoted MC user, but, and this is strictly "off the record", one of the leading CNC machine manufacturers application engineers told me recently that he prefers Unigraphics or DelCam to achieve optimum results when hi-speed machining.

Anyone here tried those UN-user friendly systems?

Try to talk about a frustrating bug and all you get is FLAMED!

Do something constuctive.

Document it in repeatable steps and email it

to qc at mastecam dot com.

Threatening to switch over to The Dark Side is not " talking about a bug".. Its walking around

with a 'Kick Me" sign on your back. biggrin.gif

Mr. Coulston,

A: I did not ASK to be flamed. Narrow minded people on this board did that of their own free will.

B: The level change procedure you outlined is exactly what I performed. As I stated in the begining, it not only copied the points I wanted but also several hundred surfaces from various turned off levels. That is what I would like an answer for.

Dave ....Its not a bug your doing something wrong

I have had this happen to me. I sent it in,

but QC could not replicate it.

Translate/Mirror/Offset etc a bunch of surfaces,

then do something with the points, maybe it will bite you maybe it won't.

It doesn't do it any more though

gcode-- teh beta testing SP1 biggrin.gif

I believe the explaination for this problem can be found in the Help section/"Working with Groups"

quote:

Note: Mastercam considers the result of a function a special type of group. When you perform a transform function (e.g., mirroring, rotating, scaling, offsetting, translating, stretching, rolling, etc.), Mastercam creates a temporary group from the original entities and a result from the transformed entities. System-generated groups appear in the Groups Manager dialog box along with any groups that you create. However, the system group and system result stay in effect only until you use the Screen, Clear Colors option or perform another transform function

A possible work around may be to go to Groups

( in the lower right corner) and delete the

"special gtoups" creted when the surfaces are Xformed. It seems to me that these special groups are incorrectly remaining selected.

Gcode,

Screen/ClearColors will do the same thing. and...

when you say "It doesn't do it any more though" does that mean that it looks to you like SP1 has fixed it?

TKDBB,

Please send a part file and detailed play-by-play ([email protected]). If it's really a bug I'll pass it along to QC, then it'll get logged and scheduled. If not, I'll try to let you know why you're seeing what you're seeing

Before you start ensure that you do not have any entities selected, if you do press the unselect button.right click on levels, select your points by either clicking on them or select all entities ,points. press green end selection button, change levels dialog box opens, choose move/copy ,select main or number level, press green tick (OK) job done.

Thants how it works for me.

I have had the same thing he's speaking of and I think Gcode was right in regards to my issue. I had translated a bunch of stuff and and I didn't realize it was selected... didn't show it as selected, but it did change levels when I tried to change levels of a few surfaces.

Guess I will have to make sure clear screen after translations.

Thanks Guys, I thought it was me.

You come to the MASTERCAM FORUM and say this.

quote:

Maybe I can talk management into Surfcam.

Not a smart idea to let the boss know that all the money he spent is being wasted on a Hothead that doesn't seem to know anything. You get a little flamethrower flame.gif

And then your oh so brilliant reply.

quote:

Narrow minded people on this board did that of their own free will.

Look in the mirror.

What did you really expect ? Sounds as if the problem is between the Keyboard and the Chair.
