  1. lol that the fix for everything.
  2. Which Tool Axis control strategy are you using? An easy fix for this is to slightly change the Tool axis control so the tool is no longer vertical anywhere.
  3. hmm, that is odd, always works properly for me. can you upload a sample file and i will take a look, the file doesn't need to be anything special can just be a simple groove or something similar to what your doing.
  4. The groove toolpath will cut a downward direction on both passes of the groove. Its not going to go down one wall and up the other, as long as you choose the groove toolpath it will plunge cut a downward direction down both walls and meet in the middle of the groove with an overlap so you should already get what you are after with the groove toolpath if i am understanding you properly.
  5. no, the shop i worked at did not have any aerospace parts or customers and now i am working for a Software re-seller so i don't make many parts anymore :(, other than an occasional government job but rather I just assist with a lot of mastercam parts for toolpaths, etc. but don't run many parts anymore with where i work now. Why do you ask do you do that for aerospace parts or something?
  6. I have always loved small parts for that reason, if i make a mistake (which never happened) I could grab a piece of stock off the stock rack with no one being the wiser that i made any mistakes in the first place Haha. Or another trick i loved is to make a few extra parts on orders that i knew would likely return and keep them in my toolbox, then next time i got the job it was already completed before i began which gave me extra time on the job card to make me look better and faster than i actually am. Guys running huge million dollar parts do not have that luxury of course.
  7. Awesome glad it worked, You can make that a default on the Files Page under machine group properties if you would like, just have to click the Exclamation mark next to operation defaults and change it in there if you want to make a default setting.
  8. Go into machine group properties for the Tool Settings page (right above stock setup) and make sure feedrates are on From Tool instead of material.
  9. maybe its the autocursor settings, see image below
  10. My line function works the same in 2020 as 2019, make sure you have line settings set to "Freeform" and "two Endpoints"
  11. does the part and everything return with a fit screen ALT+F1. I can recall a problem i seen a while back where the screen zoomed what would seem like a few miles out and it looked liek what you described but for my issue the alt+f1 fixed the problem.
  12. so with that being said replace "updateCheck.dat" with a working one from another computer or contact [email protected] for one.
  13. From the mastercam.com Knowledge Base: Problem Starting Mastercam X7 displays these messages: Cause The UpdateCheck.dat file is corrupt. Solution Replace the C:\Program Files\mcamx7\UpdateCheck.dat file with a clean copy, available by contacting Tech Support at [email protected].
  14. V6 oh no, don't they realize they are like 20 years behind the rest of the world. they need to get with the times since they are only making things harder on themselves by cheaping out and not purchasing updates. Just my opinion though!
  15. its the same requirements as 2019, they are just making people more aware now of the importance of meeting this requirement but 2019 required the same.
  16. For the cut pattern page, its just a couple of settings, the Depth you want to cut and the max step over, not much other to select there. For the part definition page, the Axial limits ajmer had turned on limit the toolpath in The X-axis, basically that Axis user limit is a way to contain the toolpath from a certain x position to another x position, so if the part is longer yes those axial limits need adjusted, a handy trick is to right click in the field and measure an x axis point right off the solid model. linking page does not need much, other than use ramp setting and this is also where you set entry feed distances. thats about all there is to a rotary advanced multi-axis tool path. On a side note, we can rough this part more efficiently with a Morph toolpath, In my opinion a morph toolpath morphing from one of those Fin to another would be more effort to setup but would offer greater toolpath control for this part so even though that rotary advanced did a good job and was easy to use the more power that morph has could be beneficial.
  17. If you like the scallop toolpath you might really like the new power it has in 2020, I have not really used it to its full potential yet but after watching this video i think this new feature of scallop will be an awesome and very handy thing so this alone was work the download for me.
  18. if it were me i would get cimco set with colors etc. the way you like it, that way it doesnt look funny anymore. I like the look of cimco and am very used to the way it looks so for me i dont think it looks funny at all but i have used it for so long now that i could just be used to it. On a side note though you can use any editor with mastercam, so if you find or purchase an editor that is similar to Cimco that you like (perhaps Predator editor or some of the others) you could set mastercam to post to that editor (this is done on the start exit page of the mastercam config) I have never used predator editor but i have talked to some people that really seem to like it so if you really want something different you could always look into something like that. But the settings in cimco are easy to edit so i expect you could certainly customize the look of cimco if you prefer.
  19. also on a side note you can go to File --> Options --> Options --> large icons if you would like the buttons in that manager to be larger.
  20. i have seen things get lost before too but it seems rare to lose things and i dont have an idea of what causes it. The main things that i have seen get lost with migration wizard (again rarely) is things like drill cycles, misc values, basically Control definition things, but those pages and data can be re-imported in the control definition if they do get lost,=.
  21. both methods work for what was described above, but i like the migration wizard method like what is shown in this video
  22. Hi Bob, i dont have answers or recommendations to your question but If you are planning on using mastercam mill turn product instead of regular mill and lathe i would suggest checking with your reseller before making a purchase to make sure they have a Mill Turn environment available, There are Tons of them available for lots of variety machines but it might be something to double check before making a purchase. these types of Mill Turns can be programmed with a suitble post processor but for the Mastercam MT product which makes programming these machines way easier and offers simulation there has to be a Mill Turn environment available. Just something to consider, all of the most popluar machines i am sure mastercam has a MT environment for but i am sure there are some out there that there inst one available yet so its just something else to also consider
