Mastercam X3 MU1 is Released

Hi Everyone -

 

We have just released Mastercam X3 Maintenance Update 1. This release addresses a number of issues that have been reported in previous Mastercam releases. Please view the “ReadMe.htm” file for detailed information on enhancements. “ReadMe.htm" can be found in the documentationreadme folder of your X3 MU1 installation. This release will not expire. The Mastercam.exe version number is 12.1.2.22.

 

To download X3 MU1, please click the following link: http://www.mastercam.com/Support/Downloads...X3/Default.aspx . Next, download "mastercamx3-mu1-web.exe." Once you have downloaded the *.exe file, double-click it to begin the installation. Mastercam X3 MU1 IS NOT a standalone installation. It is an update for Mastercam X3, meaning that X3 must be on the system to install this update.

 

To uninstall X3 MU1, go into Control Panel and double-click “Add/Remove Programs” ("Programs and Features" in Vista) followed by clicking “Remove” next to “Mastercam X3 Maintenance Update 1.” Remember that all previous beta and PC versions of MU1 must be uninstalled before installing this version. DO NOT remove Mastercam X3 before removing MU1, as it will cause problems. Current maintenance is required to run X3 MU1 (cutoff date of 10-31-08).

Already having trouble with using solids as material in verify. If I click the X to exit verify, I get an error about art. Also leaves a wierd blank image on the screen that I can't get rid of. Would like to see if anyone else can duplicate this, as I had some strange things going on before with tool wireframe staying on the screen after backplotting in X3.

If you find that you lost your toolpath defaults, you can after the install retrieve any customized Mill toolpath defaults from C:mcamxuninstall MU1millops back to C:mcamxmillops

 

Or C:mcamxuninstall MU1routerops back to C:mcamxrouterops for Router defaults

MU is the new "MR".

 

So instead of X3 MR1, it is now X3 MU1.

I was hoping for a little more "enhancement" wise other than a new arc filter, cutter comp for peal mill & a new lathe library. If they fixed all the bugs (highlighting, ect) this should be a service pack, not a "MU"

My understanding is MU's are going to be geared much more towards bug fixes than introducing "new" functionality.

Still doesn't work for me. Happy to provide the file it doesn't properly renumber the tools on.

 

On the bright side the general graphics performance in X3 MU1 for solid Verify and for something like Analyze Dynamic is significantly better than X2 MR2 SP1.

The MU does not introduce any "real" new functionality, it is comprised almost exclusively of bug fixes.

 

 

Or is my sense of humor just not engaged yet this morning?
