I finally talked my boss into new computers. We were using Dell Precision 470's Now we have 2 new Dell Precision T1500's with I7 cores, and dual moniters! (YEAH!) Before I took down the old system, I did the benchmark, 10min. 18 seconds. As soon as we installed MasterCam, I ran the benchmark again, 1 min 17 seconds! Now my boss tells me he wants to see TEN times the work from me!! Then i asked him for TEN times the pay! That didnt go over to well...LOL but im enjoying the dual moniters and I have a new space pilot on the way! biggrin.gif

hp compaq 8000 elite

Intel core 2 @ 3.0 Ghz

2 gig ram

Onboard Video

Windows xp

This system was bought for e-mail, and Microsoft Office only. I decided to install mastercam, to see if it would run it ok. It works great so far, no graphics issues at all. Our best benchmark time before this was just over 3 mins on a Dell Precision m6300 intel core 2 duo t9300 @ 2.5ghz 2 gig ram and a Quadro FX 3600M video card. The Precision 670 in my sig was over 5 mins.

I hit the 1 minute mark exactly this morning overclocked to 4.1 GHZ. Watching my task manager my processor use never went over 17% when running the benchmark. It also never used more than the 6 of the 12 cores?

To the guys that are under a minute on the benchmark, how do you get it to use more of resources when processing? I have the affinity set for mastercam to use all 12 cores in the task manager. I also have 12 gigs of ram and when using mastercam it never used slightly over 2?

My boss bought us a couple of SolidBox Cabide Level 1 6 Core Xeon's last month.

After running those, my home machine just plain sucked so I've been prowling the Dell refurb sight.

My new machine came in last week but its been sitting in the box all week cause I've been busy

but I finally got it hooked up today

The machine is a T3500 Workstation

Quad Core Xeon W3680 @ 3.33GHz

12 GB of Ram

Quadro FX-3800

Win 7 x64 Pro

It came with a 250 GB 7K hard drive

but I upgraded that to a new 10K 450 GB Raptor

X4 MU3 runs the benchmark file in 1 min 6 secs

The same file runs in 56 seconds in the latest

x5 beta

Cost was $2250 including tax, shipping and an upgraded 3 year warranty

Dell Precision T7400

Intel Xeon X5260 @ 3.33GHz

4 Gb Ram

Nvidia Quadro FX 4600 712 meg video card

Windows XP Pro

Mcam X4 MU3

Vericut 7.0.3

Dual 22" Dell flat screens

Benchmark file regened in 2 min 20 sec.

Verify in about 5 minutes if I bumped the Moves/refresh up to 15.

I have had this system for about 2 1/2 years. Is there any thing I can look at that might speed things up?

From page 1.

code:

1. Open: C:mcamxmcxmillsamplesinchhigh speedHST-CORE-HORIZONTAL-RASTER.MCX

2. There are three operations in this file, they all have the filter set to off, with a total tolerance of .001".

3. Set the Total Tolerance to .0001" on all three operations.

4. Select all

5. Regenerate
